Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any idea what could be wrong with my sisters heating.
She has a Baxi Solo boiler, the upstairs radiators keep getting air in them, downstairs seems ok.
I air them and get the radiator warm then when the boiler gets turned on it just seems to empty and need aired again.
I did notice that the hot water seems to fill up in the header tank.
I very much doubt there is a leak as I have checked the manifolds and from there its 10mm pipe so there is no joins and the route it takes I would definitely see water, especially as it is 4 radiators worth of water.
After airing and getting the radiators warm, one of them is exeptionally hot even when boiler is turned to very low setting, not sure if this is relevant.
I'm not a plumber (spark) but would like to try to sort this, or atleast know a probable cause.
The hot water side of things, including immerser are ok too.
Thanks.

.

is water pumping up th open vent? (the pipe that bends over into the top of the tank)
could be due to how the cold feed/open vent is configured.
could be a partial blockage causing the pump to draw air in from the open vent. could be the sys is producing hydrogen (you can test this by trying to light the gas which is bled from the rad)

any chance of some pictures of the pipework? where the cold feed & open vent enter the sys

I'll check exactly how its geting in there but it definately filled up, as the water was hot.
I'll check the hydrogen theory and get some pics hopefully tomorow as I know they tell a 1000 words!
Thanks for your input :)

The pics probably aren't great.
Would putting a cleaner in then drain/refill be worth doing.

try bleeding it from the air valve on the top insulated pipe at the front of the cylinder to get the air out the coil. also possible the pump is positioned in such a way that it is drawing air down the vent.
just ideas mate cant be sure..
