Hi,

Hopefully somebody can help with my boiler problem,

I have a 24i combi and it was working perfectly this morning, then this afternoon I went to turn the hot water on and just cold then went to turn heating on and nothing.

The fan still seems to be making a noise but where usually the ignition would spark after 20 seconds nothing happens and no flame.

Any help much appreciated.............

thanks in advance

Maria

don't think so as the pressure is staying at the correct level after I opened the valve and increased it, just not firing up!

Air pressure switch maybe, either way RGI neaded not a DIY job.

thanks for replies,

I gave the front of the boiler a bang and it sparked up, however it doesn't stay on as after 30 mins or so its back to square one! could this be something "sticking" inside the boiler?

Is it the 24i RSF? Does putting pressure on the middle of the grey bottom panel bring it back to life?

Yes it is the 24i RSF, I have found that putting pressure on the main panel just by where the pilot light window is seems to work but no idea why!

Try pressing the middle of the bottom panel next time. If it works it sounds like a relay on the PCB, it is a common fault on these.

The relay doesn't move/connect as it should. It seems to stick and a bang on the case might help it along.

It's normally relay RL1 on the middle of the board (old one is usually blackened). RS Components (rs online) DPDT PCB power relay, 5A 24Vdc coil, part number 366-338. A lot cheaper than a new PCB.

Note - you should only carry out repairs that you are competent to do. Ensure you work safely at all times.

that's a great help thanks for that,

will probably have to pay someone to do the work but can order the part if it proves to be this

thanks again
