went to do my cpa1 today and the instructor told me 16 year olds come from school and in six months leave, fully trained rgi! that has to be a joke.I and many others are probably wasting our time.I have been at it 30 years and am still no expert.

dont name the centre you went to but what was their certification body, (bpec, logic, Niceic, etc) the bpec gas foundation has a minimum entry age of 21

16, 21 or 65 they're still worthless chancers & your company Kirk is sending them out in their droves. Your just interested in a fast buck, so why take the moral highground on the age of these CC/CCCs???

The UK & Scottish Governments want us to take on apprentices as we have the highest 18-25YO unemployment figures for the last 40 years. Until they close down the 'mickey mouse courses' like your mate, they can go f.ck off. The only way to become a RGI or Plumber is to do a proper apprenticeship, so these Governments need to get it sorted.

I agree with the bawbag deltat2. captain kirk you/training centres are raping this industry for a quick buck and promising fools gold to gullable trainees.

No mate/hen it's not working, well, I should say they're not working. If there's no work for time-served, highly skilled RGIs, so why would there be work for these chancers?? In the 'Jobs' section of our daily rags, the biggest adverts are for Kirk's mickey mouse courses!! No bona-fide employer will employ these CC/CCCs!!

RGI in 6 months? what a rip off, there's no way it takes that long...

Where from?

T'Internet, Flea Bay £3.99 = £45.90 P + P

honestly day long courses of gas blabla are exactly that, I spent most of my course asleep, probably the most expensive snoozes ever.

Pathetic simple as that. Kirk don't ever try an defend your lot. Cause if money was not your god you would say exactly the same as delta

i provide a service to people who want it, the same as you, i couldnt care less what you and others think, i have trained very clever people to work in the relatively easy world of gas servicing and installs, get over yourself, whay do you think you are more capable than them? if you cant compete with new entrants get a new job, simples.com.
re a fast buck, it isnt that fast it takes six months to get fully paid, and i have asked this question before and will ask it again because certain people havent answered it yet, of those who bemoan new entrants into "your" trade, who amongst us is actually a fully time served gas engineer and who has moved into the industry and worked very hard and shown a lot of commitment to get where we are, im in the second group cause im a time served plumber who was offered the chance to train in gas via ACOPS, got fully qualified in ONE WEEK, with NO prior gas experiance at all, and no portfolio etc, so who let me in? oh its ok I'M in so shut the door cause the indusrtyy is full, some of you lot make me sick with your hypocrasy
so who is time served gas and who is CCC like me?

if you think im pathetic i will probably not sleep tonight haha
are you a time served gas engineer? if so then dont you dare do any plumbing, solar or anything else that isnt gas as you are raping the industry and taking the food from the tables of good time served plumbers, oh thats right its different cause tyou are great at it
get over yourself, its only gas, nothing hard to teach a lot of people,
cash isint my god, not in this industry anyway, only a fraction of my income comes from my training job, and i could make a lot more by concentrating on other things, but i do it because i want to and i enjoy it, so best you shut up about it (or more specifically me cause you dont know anything about me)
just do a better job, faster and be more reliable and you will get all the work, if not aay and do something else

i think i have only agreed with delta once and that was about coatbridge where i live, so if money is my god and not deltas then why is he always moaning about how little he can earn, you NEVER here me moaning about what i earn, cause when i want to earn more i do something about it, and dont come on here and whinge like a girl cause people are joining in what i do and are choosing to do it cheaper than me, which is there choice, i dont know who you know who has done a 6 month full time course, but i know about 50 or so, and many many of them are very able to service a boiler or to fit one, how hard is it to check a new boiler with aa FGA and interpret the results, or to fit a new boiler in place of an old one, the truth is that is is VERY easy, and you and some like you want to perpetuate the myth that you are super qualified and an industry expert,
a serious question for you and those joining in the training bashing "could you teach someone who is clever, vastly experienced and very keen to fit a boiler on a wall as per regs and MI and to get it to work" i bet you could and have, so whats the difference, except i have taught about 50 or so, get over it, people are joining in what they see as as fairly easy trade and doing a damn fine job, yes there are those who are not doing a good job, and as i have said hundreds of times just a s bad as some of the experts we all know, if people have the money and notion to do it, its nothing to do with you, concentrate on customer retention and you r business will be fine, and if not too bad, it isnt and shouldnt be a closed shop, and if you really want to solve the prob, take on an apprentice draw the funding and make your once great industry good again, or do what you are doing and go on a forum and whine like a girl
i will continue to work for someone who owns a training centre for as long as i want to or until he decides that the minimal profit he makes isnt worth the bother and he will do something else and so will i, no worries either way, as i have other things to do that are far more profitable than working for what i earn per hour at the moment, and a lot of the time i do in training id for plumbing apprentices, and construction apprentices who do renewables awareness as part of their course, so best we agree to disagree, you do what you want ( iassume its what you want cause you are doing it) and i will do what i do cause i enjoy it,
PS remember when you need to do your ACS re-assessment give me a bell for a price, you and delta are cordially invited to taje your ACS assessment for 1/2 price as you will sail through CCN1 and appliances in 2 days as experts
