Why do fishermen complain?

They are actually selling me MY OWN bloody fish

Nothing wrong with a uk fisherman selling you a fish.
When its german, french and spanish fishermen selling you the fish then get worried.
The Irish lost 100billion euro (some commentators put the figure much higher) of fish revenues since ascension when the irish signed over their waters (source Sinn Fein) and gained only 67 billion from eu benefits. (Source Fianna Fail)
Country sold down the river and for what?
Over and over the Irish people were duped by their own visionless, greedy politicians. Same story in the UK.

ROFL you on the beer tonight?

Can I see the bill of sale you hold for the fish in question

Just my opinion that's all.

Interesting though.
When you next visit the fishmonger 'Alarm' remember this conversation as you hand over your money for a fish that was yours to start with. :D

Then fish them your self and see how far you get.
RNLI on the ready.

As I said, who ever catches them sells them.

Yes, I agree, carry on selling me my own fish.
Centuries of robbery though.
I'm not bothered about the theft, its the complaining that gets me.

For years this industry has got away with it.
They should keep their heads down and thank their lucky stars. (thieving b*stards)

ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Boring now, if you think you own the fish then you carry on and sleep better at night.

Nothing rude there.

When I catch I throw yours back, happy now

So following the logic here, fish being a "natural resource" that is owned by us all we can expand this argument to include all sorts of game such as that brace of pheasants or a woodcock or two without any problem.
Then we could move on to other natural resources, coal, oil , wood , metals?
Any way can't stop I'm off to fill my van with my petrol before filling it with my wood, :D

The biggest complaint from Fishermen is regarding 'discarding'. Because of EU Fishing Quotas/Laws, half of ALL fish caught are required to be thrown back into the sea. Those fish are dead! That's almost a MILLION tonnes of edible fish dumped back into the sea EVERY SINGLE YEAR! That's the crime in my eyes. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has a campaign running to stop this happening. I've signed up. If you're interested/want to sign up, here's the info: http://www.fishfight.net/

Agreed Blas, if they are caught unintentionally ( larger mesh nets ect) then they should be kept, discarding is not helping anyone.

Cannot stand HFW but he is totally correct in this.
