CCTV, poor night vision

colour mode (day)

i was just wondering, having seen my mates by these kinda cameras before, that a brown object looks almost blue on a monitor, yours thankfuly is not dooing that.

if you want more cameras in the future, will you please consider used high end cameras from ebay, or if you keep looking and looking you will get high end pro brand new cameras for bargin prices.

just give me a shout if you need any help.

and are you going to cat 5 with baluns?

also, there is a difference between black and white mode, and true day/night mode.

Some of my cheap cctv cameras, do that where the colour is is not correct.

Lee I did buy a camera from ebay and it is crap. Alarm and co said that, buying from ebay, will only get you poor quality cameras. Most are poor quality as I found out. I don't really need something to high end, only good quality. I hope this new camera will do the job, as alarm and co did say it would be best. http://www.cctvdirect.co.uk/products/Twilight-FLD-%2d-High-Resolution-700TVL-Vandal-IR-Dome.html

I will probably stick with a CCTV cable extension. I don't have any baluns at the moment.

This video explains how to use baluns which is good

Sparkymarka thats auction has ended.

Lee, that DVR is well above my need's. Btw this is my dvr. Cheap but is good quality. All I need. :)

Bit dusty lol

hi im not been funny, but yes most of the cameras on ebay are crap - id never think of buying them.

but:
vista
honeywell
panasonic
etc

beat anything else, especially buying used above, you bought the wrong type of camera off ebay thats why it was crap lol.

i just like people, who want cctv in there home to have the best possible system, the only way to do this is buy using commerical high end equipment high end = good quality.

ive always used baluns so much easier any tydier, plus 2 cameras inc power per cable run.

i will always help you should you need it, like i say, i just want people to have the best possible equipment at a good price.

#Without going too far again.
What are the results now Mr Box?
Care to post some day/night pictures?

Your DVR is dire and covered in dust, imagine what the fan is drawing in as it cools the system.............same to you L2009..........what do you expect its longevity to be?
And the HD lying on its side, connected?

only suface dust on mine, fans get a regular vacume, ps my fan sucks warm air out, not cold in.

that hd laying on its side, is a new one, in which i installed the os for a dediacted micros dvr, just to see if i can make my own dedictaed micros hard drives (which i can)

on the pansonic the firmware is on a chip, so can swap hds at will, on dedicated micros, the firmware is on the harddrives, resulting in attaching hard drive to pc and installing the dm software, before replacing back in the dm dvr.

Just wondering.
So warm out, does =cold in with dust from intake. Or do you know better?

I like cabs for them with a in/out and a filter on inlet. When running 4TB +. I like a bit of overkill.
Though most knew about DM`s.
Especially after the issue that was quickly resolved by them.

Only needed to swap HD`s on cheap sh1te in the early days when burning was a bit hit and miss.
Bit like some cheap tat out there now

no cheap cctv in my home or cheap intruder alarm as you already know, could show you pictures of all my cctv eqipment, as ive said it comes to over £10000 yes ten thousand pounds.

Your getting a bit like another on here. Paranoid :D
I was mentioning others, as you seem to have a respectable amount of equipment from what you have said.
I assume you mean a worth of 10k when purchased new and with full warranty.
Not fleabay prices and surplus equipment left over from sites ;)

10k is a lot, for how many cameras? What PSU and UPS?
A DM and what else?

Makes me wonder what my last one was worth now, camera 12k. That was the clever one. 4 of them on site.
360 others, from covert to speed dome. 45 day UPS ( told ya overkill), All on one site. You really want to see the battery bank, a work of art. The chargers..........no hums either.
Pls we can talk figures all day long.

Lets keep it to DIY, or if you want try one of the trade sites, use the same log in and if I see you i`ll see what I can do ;)

oh my panasonic dvr also provides warnings on screen when it detects "over heating" - no had any of these warnings as yet.

Standard now with decent kit.
Some even have a low temp to avoid condensation.
Not always kept in a " environmentally controlled environment" as the blurb goes. But a very valid point.

Seen a DM in a boiler room go bang `cos of the fluctuations, as well as a few other makes, but the DM lasted the longest.
Why I like a "in" and "out" fan with filters.

not understanding you there mate.

also have 2 psus, one 24vac and other 12v, not all my cameras are dual voltage.

and the 10 grand is the price new, hence what my home insurance would cover, my panny dvr and dm dvr, and my 3 £1800 panasonic ptzs are all listed as high risk items with my insurance company, one of these domes is still brandnew. shrink wraped sealed unused in its panasonic box.

but yes thats enough of what equipment i have got - told you before i respect you and see you as a great guru with lots of knoweldge, im a tech loving geek.

I enjoy your banter, you seem to know and try and assist, not make things up.
As it happens, it could be worthwhile nicking your cameras.
Got a postcode and number for my TomTom.............dont worry its got that leap year bug and cannot even get me to the bog
