Hello,

If you're an owner of a Ferroli boiler which has problems.....like many of us - post your problem in this forum.

I'm collecting as many as possible in order to let Ferroli know that many of us are unhappy, we want them fixed and not for their £195 +vat standard charge!

Thanks,
Simon

I install these boilers and on a clean system they are trouble free - when I say that they are on a par with every other reputable boiler on the market. I must admit though, something seems to get lost in translation when reading the installation instructions!

I have had one call back since installing Ferroli boilers, and this was because the owned had over pressurised.

More often than not, the boiler is faulty due to the poor installation practise exercised by the 'money grabbing' engineer.

Hello David,

I'm in London, SE3 and have now identified the problem on my Ferroli Optima 701 combi boiler.

I need a new CH thermister/boiler thermostat fitted - the manufacturer says the parts are approx £10 each....

So could you please give me an idea of how much I should expect to pay for having them replaced?

How long should the job take?

Any volunteers??

Thanks,
Simon

I'm an installer (not of Ferroli boilers though) and I've had a Modena 80 combi in a flat I own for about 5 years now. No trouble with it at all as it was very well installed.

HOWEVER I regularly go to breakdown callouts involving some of the condensing models (eg Arena). I don't think I would buy a condensing Ferroli to be honest with you as they have some questionable electronics and some models have two pumps, the rearmost of which can be tricky to replace.

I doubt if you'll get any quarter out of the manufacturer if you take a petition to them as they are no less reliable than other, larger manufacturers such as Ideal and Potterton.

In our primary service area we would charge £84 plus parts if that helps you.

The Ferolli charge does seem high compared with British Gas who we are told will repair any boiler for £140 fully inclusive of parts and vat.

If its troublesome maybe you'd get good value out of British Gas Maint contract? I've got one, it gives peace of mind and I've had good service, some years I've had more than my money's worth and some years it just runs with no probs, so people say I'm paying for nothing.

Hello Johnd,
I am new to this site but I saw that you were asking for owners of Ferroli boilers to contact you.
I am involved in both letting and owning properties, we have at least 12 or more ferroli boilers. We have been going through a program of replacing these, main reason is that there are RUBBISH. My mum had a ferroli boiler fitted and signed up for a service contract with Ferroli. Just before Christmas 2 years ago the boiler went down the, this was just before the holidays started, constantly trying to get through to Ferroli was a complete nightmare, all we could get was an answer phone we left a message everyday. They did not come out, eventually the plumber who installed came out and she paid for the repair. After the holiday we cancelled the contract with ferroli and made a com plaint, they really didn't care. If this was an isolated issue I would NOT be writing this post. We have had numerous problems with these boilers, so much so that every time we not have a problem we replace with a different manufacturer.

so you need a t`mistor on an optima and you want the world to contact you so you can play silly buggers with ferroli?

who diagnosed a t`mistor and the boiler stat?

how much would you like ferroli to charge to come out?

Nothing to do with me

You are looking at a thread from 2006 so he has probably lost interest by now.

Henry has added to a four year old posting!

Now Bongo has been fooled into quoting the old post!

Henry has chosen to fit Ferroli as a landlord, probably because they are cheap! People who buy cheap boilers also have them installed cheaply. Those who install cheaply dont do the job properly and dont clean the system and the boilers then fail regularly.

Hello Tony,
Opps I didn't notice that date.
But I was recommended have Ferroli by the plumber we use. He install's them correctly and flushes through. The present boiler we had installed (I can't remmber the model number) but it wasn't the cheaper of the 2 it was the more expensive with higher output 4 years old having problems.
I am in EXPENSIVE central London and believe me when I say RUBBISH I really do mean it, I am so annoyed with then (Ferroli) I feel like posting notices on all of the buildings/properties that we own/manage stating the facts and problems I have encountered. Leaving that aside what do say about the lack of responce from Ferroli !!!!! :!: obviously the plumbers fault :!: or at least someone else's fault, this is bearing in mind I was on the telephone everyday 3-4 times a day my mum suffered no hot water nor heating all over a christmas period I can n'ot remmber when we got in contact with then but is was LONG after the holidays were over. dreaful service dreaful product.

In defence of my Ferroli 102 Modena, now in its 11th year only had 2 thermistors fitted. Very happy with it.

Maybe in the ones you have been to.

All the ones I have fitted have been a problem, and not because of dirt or poor installation, 2 have had to have heat exchanges replaced, one 15 month old lemon replaced in it's entirety, filling valves replaced on at least one, ALL the Optimaxs have leaked on the plastic flow switch, one had a sticking pressure gauge, one a stuck diverter, the Ferroli wireless programmers are a fukin nightmare to program and operate to the point of me scrapping one and fitting a free replacement, the other customer just switches on and off manually and lives with it, if the condensate freezes and blocks they don't cut off, they LEAK out the top of the syphon connection.
I wont be fitting any more.
The only redeeming thing was Ferroli sorted it, when the customer "eventually" got through and not cut off.
