    Conduits in insulated walls

I thought I should report back. Let it not be said that I can’t take good advice. On Thursday I met with a highly recommended electrician who has agreed to work with me on my build. He specialises in mainly commercial work (factories etc.) and the larger new build housing projects. He will...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Just to cover a few points… 48mm boxes screwed to the concrete will be 9mm below the face of the 57mm thick insulation. Add plaster board and the depth below face is 21.5mm. The affect on the insulation is so small it is insignificant. Remember that there is 157mm on insulation on the...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Hello – it’s me again. Just popped back to see what happened after I left. And as I am now ignoring Bas I will respond to some of the questions raised or inferred. RF Lighting: Thanks for your post – it was helpful but I thought a bit overkill – see later. SimonH2: I did feel a bit guilty...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Hello All, This is a complete waste of time and energy – most of which is way off the OP I am done with this thread. Thanks to all who took the trouble to address the question some of which was helpful. Regards to all.

    Conduits in insulated walls

Ban-all-sheds: Whilst I applaud your desire to make sure that I get this installation right and within the appropriate regulations I can’t understand why you should viciously berate the person that you call a “useless incompetent t**t.” This was unnecessary, pointless and it undermines your...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Thanks again ban-all-sheds. You really do need to leave me to worry about who signs what. If you have no constructive advice in relation to a question which was simply about cables in a conduit then perhaps you should leave further posts to your more helpful colleagues. You know nothing about...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Thank you ban-all-sheds for your most helpful and informative post. I will be having a strong word with the “useless incompetent t**t” first thing on Monday. Have you personally had any experience in installing T&E in conduit in walls in a passive house constructed in ICFs? If so I would still...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Thanks for your response Simon. I have considered 2.5mm² cable but the cable runs are quite long – possibly 30m for the longest – and I think there would be some de-rating because of the conduit in the polystyrene wall. But I think I could accept a lower rated MCB because these circuits (not...

    Conduits in insulated walls

Hello All. I have searched this and several other forums and found lots of advice but nothing that addresses my problem. I am presently constructing a new house using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). – Just in case you don’t know, these are basically polystyrene Lego bricks with a hollow core...

    Soakaway and adjacent foul sewer

Thanks John. That's what I understood it to be - I just can't understand where there are no rules about the proximity to sewers.

    Soakaway and adjacent foul sewer

Hello Guys, I have done a search in relation to soakaways but can’t find anything current concerning positions of soakaways and foul drains. I realise that in general soakaways should be kept 5m from buildings but what about foul drainage runs. I want to locate a fairly large soakaway partly...

    Outside Toilet

Hello Guys, I should have thanked you sooner but this construction of the outside toilet by my neighbor is still not complete. I perhaps should have said that both he and I are self-builders who have not even laid foundations yet so he is being somewhat premature in constructing this loo. I...

    Outside Toilet

My next door neighbour is constructing a toilet in his back garden that is in plain view from my lounge window. It sits in the corner of his plot as far away from his house as possible but quite close to mine. To be fair he is using fair faced block work - so it will not be ugly although I...

    Znusi washer dryer completly dead.

Just feedback to wrap this up. Thanks captaincaveman1 for your support. I checked the price of PCBs on the net and as you said the Configured board was about £140 and the un-configured board only about £100. Armed with this information I did contact Zanussi direct and of course they...

    Znusi washer dryer completly dead.

Thanks for your response, captaincaveman1. So to be clear - It is probable that a faulty door switch has damaged the board. There is power to the programme selector knob but nothing comming out of it. Is this a DIY repair or will I need to contact Zanusi? Regards
