no not in my world, in the real world of being a proper plasterer you leave sand and cement for at least a week before skimming AS IT SHRINKS thats the reality of it, if you want to float and set straight away then use hardwall float all morning turn back and finish in after noon. if you cnt...

noooo dnt use board even a fireline board, yes it will take higher heats for longer but it will only take it once and thats ya lot and the dabs wnt be up to the job either. sand cement lime backing and victas plaster to finish, i dnt know about other people but i dnt use beads for these either...

yes you do sand and cement floating should be left at least a week before skimming if you skim it too early the float coat will shrink back and away from the skim coat :roll: all hes done wrong is not killed the suction theres not even any need for pva just a spalsh of water will do ya

if its solid wall which it sounds like it is ans lime mortar then use limelite its breathable

spot on newbie easiest way i tend to do it with plaster but have done it before with easfill, and OP if its easier for you use easyfill

i think your in too deep im afraid sorry but mabey if you was just skimming for the first time that would be fine but float and set sand cement lime over an uneven substrate........sorry but its a ticking time bomb get a professional in

usually with an artex over skim i willsoften and lightly scrape off nibs, locate and mark all joists, string and ping them, screw up ceilin just to be sure it will take the extra weight, a coat of wba, float ceilin out flat then skim, sounds like alot i know but its really not alot of work
