Repairing plasterboard THEN attaching curtain rail bracket

Is it possible to repair this plasterboard hole and then reattach a bracket for a curtain pole? It’s in the middle of bifold doors, so the bracket really does need to go back exactly here. There’s only a small gap between the plasterboard and the brick, so it’ll be impossible to slip a bit of...

Sensor tap and under sink water heater

Any words of wisdom or pitfalls to avoid? I plan to run two sink units from an under sink water heater, with sensor taps. It's a commercial property with (obviously) no hot water. There's actually four sinks, but in "pairs" in that two are on either side of one wall (kitchen and WC) and the...

What is stuck on the inside of these windows?

I was hoping this might be the case! It looks a bit crappy in my opinion, but then it is a bit old.

What is stuck on the inside of these windows?

Ah, so I want to be sure it’d safe to remove! Would it be weird, though, that it’s just around the edge?

What is stuck on the inside of these windows?

Even just the bit around the edge? In any case, that means it should be fine to pull off, I guess.

What is stuck on the inside of these windows?

What is this grey film stuck on my windows, and can I pull it off? This is a commercial property I’m planning to take on. It`d look much nicer if it was gone! I do wonder if it is an anti-condensation thing, as it’s a single glazed shopfront.

Trying to fix a fluorescent light ... now the starter is glowing?!?!?

They are about 1-1.5 m long. Not sure of the wattage. I replaced the starter like-for-like (S10, I think). The glowing looks just like the pic halfway down this wiki page, so I think I'm all good on that front! The other one though, I'm stumped. New starter, new "bulb", still doesn't work...

Trying to fix a fluorescent light ... now the starter is glowing?!?!?

Wonderful. Thank you - the glow kinda "looked" normal but I just couldn't find anything out about it at all!

Trying to fix a fluorescent light ... now the starter is glowing?!?!?

Really? Really really? Then how come none of the others do this? There must be 5 or 6 similar lights in the building. Though only two (including the one I can't get working) have a new one.

Trying to fix a fluorescent light ... now the starter is glowing?!?!?

Ha! Yes, that hadn't occurred to me I guess :) I tend to be pretty happy sorting these things out for myself and I don't mind a bit of give and take if I can manage it myself.

Trying to fix a fluorescent light ... now the starter is glowing?!?!?

I rent a room in a business. One of the two fluorescent lights doesn't have a bulb. Are they called bulbs??? Anyway. I'm at work doing a bit of DIY and figure I'll just stick in a new tube. Hmmm, doesn't work. A quick google (I know NOTHING about these lights) tells me that the starter might...

The toddler broke a kitchen cupboard

So, I ordered jobandknock's things from eurofit (plus spares plus masking tape - you can never have too much masking tape). A five minute job, even with the toddler helping. Woke the baby up with the banging, unfortunately. But otherwise very simple. Now, how long do you think it'll take...

The toddler broke a kitchen cupboard

I've ordered the fixing dowls from euro fit - I think they will do the trick. Thinking about the cut down plug idea - the broken bits definitely weren't an 8 (or 7, nor 6 either probably). So I'll try that if the others don't work. I've been looking for an excuse to buy a hot glue gun...

The toddler broke a kitchen cupboard

I think it's the cut down plastic plug with a touch of glue that failed. The toddler thought it was cool, but then red is his favourite colour so what does he know.
