Hi, I am looking for any help in confirming diagnosing the following problem.
I had left some washing running in the machine, and returned to hearing a series of 3 or 4 rapid beeps, the display just had a row of dashes and I think the rinses light was flashing. The washer was empty but the clothes were wet and appeared to still have soap in them.
Upon switching on off/on, all I get now as soon as door is closed and power is applied is a burst of noise which sounds like metal grinding of metal (just happens for split second), then motor/drum starts turning for a few seconds and stops. I then get flashing rinses light. Having taken one of the side panels off, the noise does appear to be from the motor, but cannot be 100% certain. Haven't progressed any further so not attempted to remove motor as yet.
Anyone able to advise whether the motor has failed or some other possible cause.
Looking at paperwork wiring diagrams inside the lid it appears to be a 2001 model, and inside the door I have MOD - 460s and NR 10/49592502.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am certainly no expert, but there was no burning smell or anything unusual from the motor, which makes me think it may be OK. In which case, I suspect it would leave the main circuit board, and maybe the relay as suggested above, which is above my level of DIY. Could only see 1 contact for repairing the boards but that was in Germany
Can anyone suggest someone in UK who either repairs these or supplies reconditioned units?.

When the drum starts to turn, does it make a full rotation?
The metal-on-metal does not sound good.
How long are the brushes?
Will it spin when empty?

When the drum turns, it does do a few rotations before stopping.
Brushes looked OK, but didn't check length in detail. Had put motor back in thinking it was not causing issues, but may remove it again.
Am unable to select any program. Even when dial in the finish position, the above still happens as soon as power applied and door is closed.

I had an issue where it was not the brushes but corrosion on the brush holder. It does not sound like a pcb issue because you say the drum rotates (Even a little)
