Well we are....sort of. A few airstrikes against isis and some light weapons and stuff like that I believe.
They're the best fighters in that region and they're killing isis left right and centre, but they haven't got the heavy weapons to do the job properly.
They need tanks and armoured personnel carriers and heavy machine guns and sh*t like that and they'd wipe isis out no problem.
They're Muslims but they don't have the religious hatred that others do, they just want to live.
Their women are more emancipated than most in those regions, a large part of their army is made up of women fighters who fight and die alongside the men as equals, and are inspirational.
They rescued the Yazidis who were stuck on that mountain, and are sheltering them and many Christians too.
So why aren't we (the western world) helping them to do what we don't want to risk our own soldiers doing?
Because the Kurds as a people are spread out in Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran and the western politicians are frightened of upsetting those countries by arming them, because once they defeat Isis they will want their own state.
Well guess what, after all the suffering they've been through at the hands of Saddam Hussein and the like they f*cking deserve their own state.
We should be arming them to the teeth because apart from anything else one thing is for sure, if they had their own state they would be far more stable and reliable allies than the rest of that sh*thole of a region.

You're right, nothing bad can come from giving large amounts of weapons to 'freedom fighters'.

Sadly our foreign policy is largely driven by self interest, and ignorant politicians playing on base emotions. So we went to war in Iraq on false pretences, and with no reconstruction plan. Bush et al planned to topple Hussain, then leave. What a surprise that civil war broke out. Sadly most of the Arab world is a fooked up sh1t hole.

Yes how we got to this situation is well known but we are where we are. You've got a disease that needs wiping out, and a people who are well capable of doing it for us. All they ask is the means to do it, they don't want our 'boots on the ground' just the modern weapons to destroy those cowardly scumbags. After that it's up to the politicians to try to discredit the warped ideology that sustains them. The likes of Cameron saying don't call them Islamic state for fear of upsetting Muslims is no help. He should be telling Muslims to make up their minds whose side they're on and if they're on ours, denounce them. If they don't we should be questioning their loyalties.

I think you will find most Muslims do denounce IS, at least those in the UK, but newspapers do not report it. "Muslims denounce IS" is a bit like "Dog bites man", whereas "Extremist Muslim nutter targets innocent babies" sells papers. Anyway that is an aside. I can't see us throwing lots of weapons at the Kurds, it would start a war with several countries, and we'd be blamed. Again. We seem to go through phases.
  1. Arm the poor people against the nasty men.
  2. Oooh 'eck, that didn't go well.
  3. Better not arm them.
  4. Better not arm them.
  5. Better not arm them.
  6. Go to 1.
I wonder where the funding for these nutters comes from? Iran is said to fund some terror groups. Maybe Saudi Arabia?

I seem to remember a couple of years ago William Haigh commited this Government to give the Rebel groups over £25 million in aid to help topple the regime.

If four million Muslims went out on the street in the UK to protest about IS - then you'd definitely hear it on the news. The fact that they don't speaks volumes.

So why aren't we (the western world) helping them to do what we don't want to risk our own soldiers doing?
Obama won't do anything because America is remote from the problem and hasn't suffered from it.
We won't do anything because Wimpy Dave does nothing but talk... and Obama hasn't told him to yet!
The rest of Europe won't do anything because they believe in leaving the dirty work to us and the Yanks.

Arming the Kurds may or may not be a good idea. However, every time we (ie. The Yanks) have a good idea and act on it, we always end up making the situation worse. Didn't we back Syrian rebels who turned out to be the problem, not the solution?

They need tanks and armoured personnel carriers and heavy machine guns and sh*t like that and they'd wipe isis out no problem..

Why is it down to us.
Muslims are costing squillians of pounds and affecting every country on the planet with their antics.

F*ck 'em.
Oh, I'd rather not, thank you.

Good point. It must be costing us hundreds of millions a year spent on security services just stopping our own resident islamonutters killing us. Must get to the point when our security services can no longer watch all of them, with more and more returning from their jihad holidays. When that happens we have a choice: become a police state or live with constant attacks.

Leave the Arab world to it's own devices. If it looks like it's going to spill over from there, just drop 'the' bomb. Much cheaper in the long run.
