Brick profiles cost a bomb, so what's the alternative?

I've seen these dori-blocks that some brickies swear by http://www.bricklayer.co.uk/shop/Tools/Dori-profile-Block/prod_34.html) which look like they use a 50x50 box section.

You can buy 2500mm lengths here for £15 each - http://www.aluminiumwarehouse.co.uk...Tube/product_info.html?cart_qty=4&spID=315298

The profile clamps seem to be are internal & external 180mm & 300mm would it be better to buy some f-clamps as these have other uses as well.

So two box sections (£30), two dori-blocks (£26) & four f-clamps (£40) or four profile clamps (£40) - total is still £96. Some of the starter brick profile kits aren't much more than this and they have a range of clamps.

I've heard others using 90 degree angle iron so a corner can be built into it.

Are there any other alternatives or can I live without them?

For the money spent building most but a short dwarf garden wall I'd just buy some profiles and be done with it!

It still takes skill to avoid crap uneven corners.

Profiles are for skilled bricklayers to be more productive, rather than for unskilled people to build corners.
