Small circa 80 sq mtrs 3 bed semi bungalow hard floors. Want new boiler new rads new pipework non buried. Going in kitchen so prefer small to fit in wall unit. No bath.

1) Suggestions on which make?

2) we had noisy TRV on last place on back to back rad. Took it off in the end so is back to back not a good idea?

3) from what I gather plastic is preferred in loft but ?

4) any other thoughts?

Thanks

1) Intergas boiler connected to Stelrad Softline rads with copper pipework
2) Nothing wrong with back to back rads, you just need decent quality TRVs. Look at the Danfoss RasC2 if you want functional, or RasD2 if you want functional and pretty
3) No idea where you've gathered that from. Copper is proper. Lofts are the place you're most likely to find rodents. Rodents like to chew plastic pipes. Use copper everywhere
4) Not really, you've not given a lot to go on

Like it!

"Copper is proper: Plastic is drastic. "

Wonder if Yorkshire will buy that slogan off me?

1) Thanks

2) probably our fault as new we might move so went for cheaper quote - never have Ideal boiler again

3) was having it done last year so had Worcester and Valiant guys in both said no when I requested all copper as both used plastic in loft.

4) A) 5 - 7 year free Gaurantee: don't go with anything 'free' so are we just paying up front for it in price and be tied into them for service?

4) B) min flow rate for shower

Thanks

4A) Most manufacturers offer around 5-7 years guarantee now, some as much as 10 years. Take it as a vote of confidence in their product rather than paying for it. You are, of course, paying for part of it but they're only expecting a small percentage of boilers to actually need anything doing in the warranty period, so you should be getting value for money. Only Glowworm will tie you in for their service, and only then if you pay extra for their 15 year warranty, although some other companies including some you've mentioned will market to you quite aggressively to use their services. Intergas, by and large, leave you alone

4B) Depends on what shower you've got/chosen

4b) not a power shower
Leafing through Wickes it's looking like thermo mixer with bar 0.3 min 0.5 max. Mains pressure seems ok.

Thanks

If its max pressure is 0.5 then a combi will be too much for it. Don't buy showers from Wickes/B&Q/Homebase/Other DIY sheds, you'll never get spares for them when they go wrong. Buy something from Mira or Aqualisa

copper slow and expensive, plastic fantastic (in the right places) catchy or what !

Shower: oh I see I thought bar 'x'' meant minium it must have not the most it could take? Have I got that rIght?

No idea, maybe you could post a link to the one you're looking at? Though as said before, buying unbranded/own brand showers is a poor choice...
