Can I 'flatten' traditional oil based gloss?

I stockpiled some F&B original formula, oil based eggshell when it was discontinued and am now redecorating with it. Only one tin isn't eggshell, it's gloss that must have been wrongly labelled.
Is there anything I can add to 'flatten' it?

Have a word with your local diy store and see if they can get you some paint flattening powder/agent?

DIY store? better a decorators trade store. I have a vague feeling that talcum powder or french chalk can be used - but I'd need a psychic to ask my Dad or Grandad who were decs. and may have told me about it
