I have a three year old daughter, she got into my lipstick and decided to decorate my bathroom walls, counter tops than she proceeded to decorate my ottoman in the living room. PLEASE HELP! how do I remove lipstick from walls and furniture without making the stain bigger?

There are a number of methods you can use to remove lip stick. Ones I can think of are using ammonia, alcohol or hairspray.

If you're using ammonia, you can try removing as much lipstick as you can with water, dab the stain with a little bit of ammonia and wipe after with soap and water.

If you're using alcohol, get a white cloth, dab the stain with rubbing alcohol (ethyl alcohol) and gently rub dishwashing detergent onto the stain with your finger. Wipe with warm soapy water afterwards if you wish.
If you're using hairspray, spary some onto the stain, leave it to soak in for a few minutes, gently wipe of the spray with a white cloth and wipe again with warm soapy water.

Hope this helps.

P.S. What's an 'ottoman'? :D

I chose not to search because I was hoping to get a response from SingleMom instead. Then I know if she saw my post or not. That's why I asked a question to her so that she could answer. If I hadn't have asked, she could have read my post and not replied because there would be nothing to reply for.

Why bother searching when she could tell me? She has got to say thanks anyway hasn't she?

an ottoman is a piece of furniture that can be used for a foot rest typically but they have many different styles some have storage in them as well. mine inparticular is a small glider type that came with my glider rocking chair.

By the way thanks for the tips!

They worked really well!

Thanks :). I never knew that.

No problem ;). I'm happy to have helped.

To everyone: The only time I get disappointed is when people ask for help, then they don't reply.

nice to see someone has in this case, but come to expect a lack of replies or thanks as you help people out on these pages. Sad but true and manners certainly go a long way when your offering help for free! :D

I agree. I'm all for 'putting myself out'. It makes my day when I know someone appreciates my efforts. I've seen no end of times when people (especially newcomers) ask something and someone else has replied to offer advice and they are never seen for dust .

Unfortunately Thermo, I've had my fair share of that on the following forum (a former member):

lol note DIY in my hobbies section :D.

Anyway, I decided to join 'DIYnot' so I could offer help and gain knowledge about DIY. There are some nice people here and of course some people I dislike, but all forums are the same because at the end of the day they are run by... people .

Thank you to everybody who shared thier hints and tips. I truely appreciate it. To be perfectly honest I really didn't think I was going to get any kind of responses from anyone judging from my previous experiences with message boards. so again, THANK YOU EVERYONE! You all saved my carpet, walls, furniture and sanity...!!!!!!!!!![/b]

Olive oil on a paper towel works wonders for lipstick on walls. It wipes perfectly clean and it's so quick and easy. :D

Hi!! I searched on how to get lipstick off the wall and I came across this . I found it very useful. Thank y'all for the tips!! I used the rubbing alcohol and immediately rubbed off. My mother in law was furious that my daughter did this and she tried to use nail polish remover to take it off but it made it worse. Now she is happy!!
