Censorship generally has a neutering affect on people's ability to understand each other and potentially get over their differences

It would be nice to have an explanation though.

Can the mods provide us with a basic discussions template outlining their prohibited subjects then please?

I confess that I have been following interesting threads only to suddenly find that there they are: gone!
I, too, would appreciate an explanation of why they were removed. Surely, this would educate us as to what else is likely to be trashed in future. Without such information, deletions are bound to keep happening.

I don't know exactly what has been deleted in this case, but I suspect circumcision and possibly FGM. Are these specific topics not permitted, then, or is it because posts may have referred to the practices of one specific religion?

In my opinion, censoring discussion relating to 'one specific religion' is simply sweeping potential problems under the carpet and is likely to engender more ill feeling bubbling away under the surface. I don't think that would be a good thing: eventually it is bound to explode!

The original linked news item with the terrible consequences was specific to one religion but the practice is common to more than one and also, as I noted, the Royal Family - the reason for which is unknown, at least to me.

Kim Jong Un would be proud.
He has managed to popularise his hairstyle so who knows?

we should off course be able to express our horror at practices that are illegal or immoral
its up to people off a country to abide by the laws off that country

if its in another country we have no control over we can off course express our outrage in a way that doesnt take the moral high ground but express our dislike or horror

we must off course conduct our selves in a manor that places us above the evil as we see it
we must remember some off the things we do are seen by other countries are fairly abhorent to them but they dont try and force us to comply with there rules

Eye opener to me....All the disapproval of Islamic circumcision, FGM, Catholic priests with little boys etc and then I find out some old Jewish men actually use the (IMO) illegal removal of bits of a babies penis as an excuse to suck it???? WTF???
I was warned of the similarity between Islam and Judaism.... one lot blow kids up the others blow them off. Sick fookers.
Please tell me I read it wrong

Don't be silly. Who invented religion and franchised it all over the world to civilisations that had no contact with each other?

What if it turned out that the people of Kepler-452b were killing each other over who had the best imaginary friend?

Europeans mostly for the franchised bit, the origins of "religion" as a concept depends on how you define it.

Should we be allowed to critcise circumcision and other ridiculous religious traditions?

Where are the bad jokes relating to circumcision and snipped threads? I am disappointed.

I can't say I noticed cencorship. Specifically what was the topic of discussion? I can't be dislike of criticism of Judaism, otherwise you know who would have been banned years ago.

He seems to be immune from banning for some reason.
I wonder whether he might be a member of the House of Lords!
