Hi, I have a hard wired Alarm system - Securit 700L installed in 1996. It has 4 PIRs, ie 4 zones. The other day my wife went to set it and the keypad sort of fell apart.

I have booked a service call for Wednesday but I am wondering whether to cancel and book an estimate for replacing the system.

Is this worth repairing (£80 call out plus parts) or should I update the complete system? Would like to have some sort of remote facility also if replacing.

Thank you
Jim

You won't get a keypad for it unless you look on ebay , even then it may not be the right version, saying that they are a great little panel and don't go wrong apart from the keypads wear out. A nice midrange replacement would be a euro mini or a premier 24 if you want some sort of text/ email

You can pick up a G2-12 Galaxy panel for just over £30 new on Ebay. A keyprox about the same. For remote control add £49. A professional grade system at DIY prices...

Thanks for the replies.

There is a replacement keypad listed on ebay - slightly different as it has 8 zones and mine has just 4.

I think the retaining pin has come out of the keypad. Perhaps the engineer can clean and repair it. The system has been very reliable so this could be worth a try.

They didn't make a 4 zone 700l ! Early ones had 5 then 6 then 7 and finally 8 zone lights on the keypad .

Sparkymarka you are right! My mistake - my keypad has 6 zones.

Do you think the ebay one will be OK?

Thank you
Jim

Take a look at this you would be better getting this off ebay 271940524444
The 6 zone version is very old so you can't use the 8 zone keypad , the item has 3 keypads so spares for later the pcb is a straight swop

Engineer arrived and repaired the keypad. It all seemed fine then keypad opened again - little securing tab broken. Wife decided for peace of mind to go for upgrade. Replaced panel and keypad with Scantronic 9651PD. reasonable price and peace of mind restored.

Thanks for help and advice.
