Hi
Looking for some advice. Our driveway is crazy paved and all or most of the pointing has gone. My idea is to take all the Paving up lay a membrane and cover with shingle/gravel.
At the entrance I want to put 3 rows of reclaimed house bricks to drive over then the shingle if that makes sense. I've never done anything like this so not sure where to start. Any help in laying the bricks advice greatly received. I'll try and post a picture of what I want the finish to look like but on a much smaller scale than the picture.
Thanks for any help.

Going to take the hedge down so the bricks will go across the whole width of the house

That image looks like resin bonded gravel which is specialist work. Is that what you want? Or do you want loose gravel to be forever being spread down the road?

And every kid who walks pass to pick it up/throw it/kick it/mess it up with their feet/become a cat toilet?

Loose gravel with a 3 or 4 brick front border. Driveway is jnackered and this for me is the cheaper option

The membrane is a bad idea. The correct make up for a driveway like this would be 50mm of gravel on minimum 150mm of compacted hardcore such as type 1 MOT.

Your bricks are best bedded directly on 150mm of semi dry concrete.

Ok thanks. If I don't put down some sort of membrane for weed protection won't they eventually come through even type 1 ?
Cheers
