Hi do people find it ok to combine a basin and shower waste running 1.5 inch pipe with a tee and reducer to pick up the basin. Or should they be separate? Also for a bath and basin waste that is combine does this need to be 2inch reduced to 1.5 inch after the tee to pick up the basin? Or would 1.5 inch be ok? Thanks for anyones thoughts on this?

It all depends on access. If you have access to tap the soil stack for separate wastes then that is preferable, if you don't then a shared waste is unavoidable.
Old cast iron stacks where there is only one inlet through a wall to the outside stack is a perfect example where only one inlet may be available for a bath and a basin. The diameter of that access may also be the defining factor as to what waste pipe diameter you can use.

Ideally would be better if separate but it can be done. A basin and shower will be fine. If it was a bath and shower a non-return valve would be a good idea.
