Hi,

Finding different opinions online.....5.8m span, 400mm centres. Do I need noggins or is the 18mm deck doing this job? and at any points where deck doesn't finish on a joist put a noggin there.

Or do I need two rows of noggins, two meters apart and two meters from each wall plate (roughly)

If I do need noggins, can they be 2x4/3x4 timbers? or do they need to be the same depth as joists?

Thanks a lot in advance.

so only a noggin in the row where a sheet ends between joists? sorry don't quite understand ;)

And what size would you think the noggins should be?

cheers

Your span is 5.8, as the sheets are 2.44 if lay your sheets in line with the joists you'll need one row of noggins after 2.44 and then another at 4.88, gettit? Noggins the same size as the joists, or same depth anyhow.

Gotcha!!! Nice one.

Presume noggins could be c16 rather than c24 to save some £££?

Better be getting me some more joists to cut up then.

At 400mm c/c I wouldn't bother with sheet support noggs.

However, we would be fitting either mid-span or 1/3rd span solid bridging as a structural stiffening element.

These are solid timber joists and not engineered fellas, yes?

Yeah solid timber joists.

I'm going to order enough for two rows as I have to ring them soon then I can either do two rows at sheet ends or two evens rows an even distance from each end.
