Miele T8722 Tumble Dryer Not Heating Up...

So is ordering the control board a shot in the dark (educated guess ) or did you check that the element has a supply voltage in some programs but not others?

It's a complete shot in the dark.

As it doesn't look like any of the other 3 items as being faulty, it's just a process of elimination I guess...

Update: I've managed to find a way of doing the diagnostic and the fault code is -2260. Does it mean anything to you?

Sorry no, I don't have any Miele documentation & the fault codes seem to be a closely guarded secret as far as washers & driers are concerned. I'm afraid all I can suggest is as I said test for volts at the element in different modes & if they differ then hopefully you are on the right track.

The fault codes begin with an F.
Can you test the components under the component section of the menu?

Your problem is about the dryer intermittently heating right? Does it always heat on the timed drying programs?

I don't know what that means Richard. Can you elaborate please?

It seems the time it dried with the 'extra dry' button pressed in was a one off. I tried if again and the dryer stopped after a few seconds and started beeping...

Would the fact this dryer has spent its entire life (all 2 years 3 months!) In our garage, being exposed to extreme heat and cold in summer and winter cause anything to malfunction?

Does that mean you haven't bothered venting it to the outside, & if it does have you checked the ducting from the filter to the exhaust for obstruction/bloackage ( rodent nest )?

It is vented to the outside. I've checked every possible place for build up of fluff and blockages but there aren't any...

OK, so it's not the ntc sensor switching off the supply, did you measure a voltage at the element at all, either across it or from either terminal to earth?

I'm sorry jj4091, I'm a complete novice at this, I wouldn't know where to start with that. Could you elaborate please?

I thought it was only Miele dishwasher codes that started with F .If you have documentation & Miele experience then please take over & offer specific advice as I am just taking him through a generic fault finding process

Do you feel competent to do voltage checks on a live machine, it could be dangerous & perhaps I should not give advice that may put you into a risky situation.

I have documentation but not for this particular machine.
I have experience but live on the other side of the world.

My suggestion is to see if the "timed drying warm air" cycle works to determine if it will heat.

I have had a dryer in the garage for many years now and it has not given any problems.

I'm fairly sensible, so fire away jj4091...
I appreciate you are confident but I am still reluctant to advise further in that direction. I presume the board you have ordered is the heater relay pcb, so once that arrives you could try that in without risk to yourself & see if that cures the problem. That is the direction I was trying to lead you towards before you replaced the board so you may as well try it now you have ordered one. Please keep posting the results of your efforts.
