How much silicone do you guys use around a bath mixer tap?

Here is a picture of the bath mixer tap in place

It has a hidden rubber O ring that goes between the base of the tap and the actual bath.

I will be using a good quality silicone (probably Dow Corning 485+ white).

a). No silicone at all and just rely on the rubber O ring.

b). A small amount that gets squeezed out as the taps bolts are tightened up (as a bit of extra backup for the O ring).

c). A decent sized bead like this.

d). Something else?

PS. I have a fugi tool, so my beads will be nice, not sh!te like in these drawings.

You shouldn't need it if the tap/ring are decent. If you try using both, the o ring will just splay out when tightening the back nut. If concerned about leaks, you can always put a little silicon on the underside of the bath between the back nut and bath.
