hi guys, my alarm is a bit of a mess with the bellboxes. I have a prima 200 (only bought this because I liked the leds) they turned out to be pretty rubbish and its not all that great and not to mention it has no cut off timer.I want to get rid of this and buy 2 identical bellboxes back and front and back.

I was thinking of using the either using the flashguard xl or xtra. the only drawback in my mind (may not be case) is the backplate is pretty tight and not alot of volume will escape however I could be wrong.

so guys from experience is the flashguard a good choice?. is it loud. will it be louder than the prima 200?.

alternative does any one have any second hand prima 300's.

thanks

thanks sparkymarka I will have a look at those. just one more thing out of curiousity I had a look on the pcb on the prima besides the internal batteries and strobe circuitry. I noticed this long grey square potentiometer looking thing on the pcb with a black flatblade insert at the top. what does this do? I originally thought it controlled the timer settings but then again this sounder does not have a timer. could it be something to do with the strobe? perhaps regulate the voltage or control the flash rate?. or could it be volume control.

sorry for the crap description I would take a picture of it if i could.

thanks

I have just found this old thread "elmdene prima question" with a picture of the component in question, it has a red box drawn around it. thanks

hi, I had a play around with it whatever it is it doesn't seem to effect the sounder in anyway. just turned the adjustment back the way it was before.
any ideas what it could be?. I am just interested. there is an old question mentioned above with a picture of what I am trying to identify. thanks

hi guys I managed to find the good old elmdene prima 500 on some website so I bought 2 for just under 100 pound. so that's a direct replacement GREAT:). I could never replace the old with today's modern rubbish. btw forget about the question about that component it doesn't was just curious to know what it was. anyway I'm off cheers

What ! £100 think they saw you coming ! ADI security was selling the hs 500 complete for sub £20 each!

its quality that counts dude!. the hs500 is only 105db which is not quite loud enough for my liking, not saying its a bad sounder and I appreciate your suggestion. the prima 500 was a direct replacement so didn't have to fanny about with new drill holes. lol had a lot of fun setting it up though 118db still rips your ears off even with muffs on but its working now nice bright green leds bright strobe as well and very loud (and I mean loud).

btw if you would like to know where I got the prima 500's its a site called meteor electrical however you need to search prima 400. they are expensive though 50 quid each but they are worth it.

just a tip for those looking for a loud quality low current sounder that is not the master blaster.

The Master Blaster (240v) is an add on to the primary sounder (12v DC), not as the primary.
