:rolleyes: All I know is that if you do it on interior fitouts (e.g shop/bar/restaurant fitting) where we do get single skin brick walls, you tend to get kicked off site sharpish - so you learn not to push the drill too hard (a sharp SDS doesn't need to be pushed hard) and not to drill too deep for the brickwork. But then these supermen employed by Virgin aren't going to get sacked if they make a pig's ear for an installation - at least not judging from the half-baked installs we've seen on my road!
 
B.T engineers are just as useless, I came home last week after having a new line fitted to find half the brick face missing and he didn't even try to disguise the fact by sticking on of those brown plastic covers over the hole!!!!!!!!

SDS drills work by percussive action. You need an ordinary drill if you don't want the face blowing off.
