Cilla Black has died.......

I think I'd better have my clogs serviced, to prevent them popping for a while. I didn't see that series, I will see if I can see it somehow, it sounds interesting. I remember not liking the way a colleague referred to his wife, calling her stupid when she was around, but there is often more to a relationship than can be seen. A colleague tells his wife to "Feck off" when he is on the phone to her, but we all reckon were he to kill her, he would get off on the grounds of justifiable homicide.

Once knew a tough ex docker who slagged his wife unmercifully when he was in work.
Got time off work one day to go and have a look at something in his house, (he and foreman were best mates), so he takes me to his house. Whilst there his wife came home from work unexpectedly as I was looking at the hall light switch. Introduced myself and said Ron's in the kitchen. He comes out to see who I was talking to and I have never seen such a change of character! Lol.

"Hello dear. Wasn't expecting you home so early. This is Terry from work, come to look at the light. Would you like a sandwich and a cuppa................" And so it went on.

I was sworn to secrecy not to say anything when we got back to work. (Got my breakfasts paid for during all that week! :D )

I was in a restaurant in Liverpool in the sixties and Cilla was there, but she got fed of people going up to her and saying, "Is that roy c, over there "

Mate of mine is a free lance sound recordist. Worked on a lot of her shows. He said she was an absolute knob yet had this reputation within the industry of being a saint, consumate profressional etc etc.

Given the blanket eulogies for Cilla on the radio over the last two days, I can only guess that the Beeb will shut down for a year, when Our Majesty finally shuffles of this mortal coil.....

I'm sure someone said they wanted to watch 'Cilla' starring Sheridan Smith but the post seems to have disappeared??

Anyway, it starts tonight at 10:40 on ITV

I did, the post must have been removed, but sadly I've missed the programme. I listened to her hit singles, and I can see she was talented at Blind Date etc, but her singing was dreadful. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and she did well to get some songs that sold very well indeed. I do think it sad that she died so young, and that by all accounts she was unhappy.

Oddly enough I work for someone who you might think is the sweetest person in the world, until you realise how controlling she is. If you show independence, she will crush you. Crawl and you are patted on the head. I suspect a lot of these show biz people do so well because they are controlling, which is what you need on screen.

Do you remember when Diana died? It was sad, and awful for her poor family and friends. But the media went weird. There was a week or more of what felt like manipulation, where we were all supposed to be in mourning, and crying our hearts out. I felt quite angry at being manipulated. Nothing but Diana on the radiomand TV. I do wonder if it was because media people felt guilt at complicity in her death due to media harassment. It was the most bizarre week or two in my life. When Lizzie dies, oh lord, it will be awful, all these media types going into overload grovel mode. Anything to ensure they get a gong when they retire. After all, that is what it is about isn't it. Arise Sir Media Moghul. Grovel, slurp, grovel. Ever wonder why Her Maj almost never gets bad publicity?

That's your wife, that is, isn't it? :)

That's British brain-washing.
There are so few opposing opinions that the only conclusion is that only people who are naturally subservient and fawning or are prepared to do what they are told have a chance of getting those jobs.

I felt quite angry at being manipulated.
INDEPENDENT THOUGHT ALERT!

Well slap me in the face with a wet kipper, I've just heard Cilla on Planet Rock. Marc Bolan (TRex) and Cilla singing Life's A Gas. Her voice was good in that song. :) It's on You Tube, if you are curious.
