ECU Repair

Hi everyone

My car has been developing a lot of electrical faults (central locking playing up, windows not working, dashboard lights coming on and off whenever they fancy it etc).

Anyway, I have been in contact with these http://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/ and they think it is a fault too.

However, they couldn't give a price so was wondering what I should expect?

My car is:

Make: Renault
Model: Clio
Engine size/Type: 1.5 diesel
Year: 2013
Mileage: 4k (ish)

No worries - the car has a 3 year warranty.
However, it is possible for Renault to wriggle to some degree......the vehicle should have been serviced in accordance with Renault recommendations. However, this doesn't mean that a main dealer has had to be used - an independent garage is fine, so long as the service record is kept. (At 4k it should only have had a yearly check anyway.)
Anyway, whether the car has been serviced or not, this fault is not dependent on any service so its back to Renault you go.....please don't delay!

Two of the windows on my Megane stopped working. After a bit of pressure Renault "admitted" there was a design fault and offeres to re-imburse 50% of the repair cost. Since all the micro "intelligent" electronic modules are interconnected it might be that one rogue module is corrupting data to other modules

Press for all the discount you can get from the main Renault dealer as they will be re-imbursed by Renault for any "loss" of profit.

If no offer from the dealer try e-mailing the head of Renault UK.

In my limited experience of these things, ECUs very rarely go wrong in themselves. It's nearly always a connection faut. As Burnerman says though, the car is under warranty. It's Renault's problem! The warranty doesn't end if the car is sold before it expired.

check all earth connections ,battery and around the body of the car .Look in car manual or google to find earth points.If a earth point is loose can cause loads of funny faults.
