I installed a Pyronix HomeControl+ alarm panel a couple of weeks ago and, and yesterday I tried to set up the Digi-GPRS module after installing a suitable outside GSM 3G antenna in the loft that I got of ebay. (antenna that came with Digi-GPRS was no good, panel in cupboard and very poor mobile reception in my area where I live.)

Now when I go to enter the APN network settings for my sim card under "Communications > Data Network Set-Up > Program GPRS" the panel displays "GPRS Not installed"; however I get a signal strength of 14 under "Diagnostics > Communications > Signal Strength"

The App status and the Arc Status also both stay in initialising.

I will try contacting Pyronix in the next couple of days, but in the mean time does anyone have any experience of this new panel. Surely it can't connect to the Cloud without my SIM's APN's details.

Hopefully I am just doing something wrong?

not done one of these, I would check the manual for guidance.

end of the day, unit should be down powered before installing and adding sim card, the apn for the sim should be straight forward, just make sure everything is in the correct place.

which network you using?
does the sim have internet capability?
and what is the scale for signal strength on this unit?

Have you enabled the gprs/ cloud settings?

I have, but I will check again.

Of which I did.

which network you using?

GiffGaff

does the sim have internet capability?

Yes, it's a on a 3G goody bag with Data + I put on £10 credit.

and what is the scale for signal strength on this unit?

0-31, I am getting a solid readying of 14. Doubt I can achieve more than this in signal strength.

Have you enabled the gprs/ cloud settings?

Yes as in under "Communications > App Set-up > Use App > [1] Yes", although I haven't generated an App Password Key as I assume the panel wont be able to talk to the network without the APN Deatils.

Will try to set up APN details again now, will posts an update later.

Update: Just tried resetting the panel to defaults as well as removing and re-inserting the sim card, but made no difference. How comes the panel is displaying "GPRS Not installed" but is showing a signal strength of 14?

Update 2: I emailed Pyronix a couple of days ago and had a reply back from them asking me to check the software version for the GSM modem under "Software Revisions" in the menus. It turns out that my GSM/GPRS modem should have software version V2.66 as indicated by the sticker on it, but instead shows V1.14 for the software version under "Software Revisions", meaning it has the wrong software programmed and will need to be replaced. :((n)

Glad I found this article. Has been doing my head in setting up. 1 module dead and got replacement earlier. Was getting same error and after seeing this and my module shows 1.14 in Software revisions, but 2.66 on label. Have emailed both Pyronix and Supplier as looks like there is a batch on mislabelled GPRS module :(

Update 3: Just to let you all know, everything is now working fine and as expected after Pyronix very kindly and promptly sent me a replacement GPRS module with the correct version of the software on.

I would advise anyone who is having the same issue that I had to contact Pyronix custormer support at [email protected] or call them on 0845 6434999.

Very happy with Pyronix as well. They sent me a replacement module and everything working fine now (they even included a Jiffy envelope with postage on it to return the old module).

And thank eveares for posting as helped me work out the problem and get it resolved
