Fuel economy!

I can't really believe this, but have just driven to the Dordogne from Northumberland......car is 'er indoors Nissan Note Dci, 64 plate.
The average fuel ... fuel consumption (on cars computer) has been 73.2 MPG - seriously!
Got from Newcastle to Sutton Scotney services on less than 19 quid - I thought the gauge was wrong.
That's with the cruise control set to 74 mph, and quiet driving on the French D roads.
Amazing.
(Incidentally, it's hot as hell here!)

Crikey John! That's almost moped type frugality! Amazing really.
I thought our "brick on wheels" Partner was doing well at 53 (point something) when we went up to Norfolk a couple of weeks back.
Enjoy the weather. It's peeing down here in Cornwall.

I've been getting 69.4 tootling about Scotland in my partner's Auris 1.4D.
That's really good because I could never get that in mine, I'm always gentler on her's, I wouldn't like to break it.

i got 60 mpg out of my old 03 reg tdi ford galaxy all nearly 2 tonns of it,mind you i was driving like miss daisy.ive got an smax now and cant get anywhere near that.

Distance covered 3651 miles by odometer
55.44 MPG.
Computer readouts including average MPG reset at each fuel pumping, MPG reading always more than the real consumption, but by varying amounts - Did not record the readings.
Part country roads, part city driving.

This is her 3rd Note......09 plate, 62mpg. 61plate, 57mpg. (All computer figures.)
This latest one has an Eco button .....not sure what it really does but it seems to ****** the fuel injection a bit.
We buy them ex Nissan with 2k miles or less on the clock, and clear them at 60k. Each one gets an oil and filter every 9k, new discs and pads around 40k and 4 tyres in total so the running costs are negligible.
I've covered 1000 miles on this trip so far, and we are still showing 72.2 mpg.
42 deg C at the moment!

Yes, all my last dozen or so company cars have been a few MPG "optimistic" on their trip computers. Doesn't matter whether they're PSA or VAG, they all do it to varying extents. My current 115bhp VW Sharan diesel is showing an average of 44MPG but the real brim-to-brim fillups average about 42.

I drove to Moldova and back last year in my Discovery. Covered 5,672 miles in total as we took the long way to get there and a longer way back via the south of France. Anyway, I used just over 135 gallons of fuel which equates to around 42 mpg..not bad for something that weighs 2.7 tonnes and has the aerodynamic profile of a cliff face...

My company car weighs around 1.7t and has a 2.0TDi engine...averages about 60mpg..but can go over 90mpg on motorway runs...It's a top spec Skoda Superb 190.

Mine's a Skoda Fabia 1.8TDi. I also get in the 50s and 60s mpg and more if I drive very smoothly.
Excellent cars, Skodas, despite the disparaging remarks we hear and the real bonus: no-one wants to nick them!
