Slow filling Toilet cistern

Hi everyone

I have a toilet that when flushed is very slow to fill. I've attached images to show what inside cistern is like. Would really appreciate advice. Thanks

Isolation valves in the OFF position.

I can just about see, that your valve is turned to almost off position.

Using a flat screwdriver turn the screw anti clockwise, till the line is vertical, at which point the water will be in full flow.

If you find that the pressure is too high? Turn the screw back till the line is sideways.

You'll find it easier to do this at the same time as you press the flush lever.

Thanks for your advice. Previously though when I flushed the toilet and looked at water in cistern flowing, I noticed that when I adjusted the valve the water flow was affected. I adjusted the valve to ensure that the flow was good. I thought that I had the problem solved as it flushed a couple of times in a short space. However the problem reoccurred. Any suggestions? Thanks

Could be a simple case of damaged mechanism inside the flushing system; one option is to isolate the issue, and replace the component, but before you do that, you'll need a plumber to pop round.

Or simply isolate the water inlet from the isolation valve, empty the tank, and replace the entire plastic kit that you see inside your tank, which you can pick up from the local plumbers merchant; they're common parts, generic I should say.

I would try changing the diaphragm washer inside the fill valve. It is also possible that the orifice in the fill valve is blocked by debris. If you dismantle the valve by undoing the two green plastic nuts you can change the washer and check the orifice. Is the supply from the mains or from a loft tank? If its tank fed it should have a larger red orifice. Mains fed should be a smaller white orifice. I would guess that it is mains fed and that the isolating valve has been closed down to restrict the water flow.

Could you suggest any way to shift that green washer. It's very stiff and it's proximity to the back of cistern is very narrow making it very difficult to turn by hand. Thanks. I really appreciate your help

I'm really struggling to get that green hand nut/washer shifted. Pliers won't grip it. I've tried a spanner but to no avail. There is very little room between the washer and the back of the toilet cistern. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated as this is the obstacle holding up progress.
