Hey guys,

I've built my timber frame garage on 2 / 3 coarses of bricks to keep the timber away from ground level.
I'm insulating between studs, VCL and boarding.

What should I do (if anything) about the couple of bricks?
If I board straight down past the sole plate and over the bricks, am I going to start getting damp in?

You should build up the brick foundation to allow the "board" to go past the sole plate but to stay above the DPC.
The DPC cannot be bridged from above or below.

You should detail the floor DPM so that it runs up the inner side of the bricks and connects with the DPC.

You also want a strip of insulation on the back of the bricks to remove the condensation risk.

Thanks for the replies.

So if I need some insulation on the bricks, I'm going to...

Insulate between the studs, 25mm poly over the top and down over the bricks, VCL, then board...?

Could be VCL go before the 25mm polystyrene? (Be easier to staple it up in place.

On another note, does the roof need VCL before boarding? It's vented cold roof, 100mm insulation between joists.

Oh and yes, the DPM comes up the inside and the single skin bricks have a DPC
