HI guys and gals,

I have a standard square opening to my garage, 2400 ish square. It was panelled with horrible wood and plastic so that has gone and now we need a solution as it is open. Brick construction and concrete slab floor so ideally want a bolt in one piece kit ideally.

Surely someone makes a standard bolt in kit to convert it to a 900 glazed door, 1050 x1200 window and a low wall panel under the window. There must be loads of people who want this !

Does anyone know if this exists?? or similar? Surely someone must make a conversion set to do it to the front ????

Any ideas are welcomed as I am tired of coming up dry on google! Thanks

You just buy a door and window and screw them together. If you want a plastic panel below instead of a wall, then you have a plastic frame made and its filled with a plastic panel instead of glass

Ok so not really a standardised plug and play type thing on the market for this application??

I was really hoping someone would give me a nice Clicky link but it looks like im back to having a think and doing some doodles on my pad.

So would I have to knock up a frame for it all to bolt too or just try and get the sizes bang on and screw frame to frame?

As you can see, upvc stuff is not my area of expertise so cheers in advance

With plastic windows, unless you have a standard opening and can slot in a standard frame from the merchant's stock, then you will need made to measure frames.

So you would give a supplier the opening size, tell him what door size you want (and style, hanging side etc), and any window openings, and he will make a combination frame for you. You'll just assemble this on site, and will be supplied with any necessary joining or cover strips.

If you are lucky and the opening works standard units eg a 900 door and a 1200 frame - or there abouts, then you could buy off the self and screw them together. If you are having a bottom panel in plastic, you will struggle to get that off the shelf though so would need that made, otherwise you would just brick up to the frames.

Awesome , cheers for that mate, ill get measuring and pop down to the local window guys near me to see what they say.

Thanks

Be careful with your measurements. I had to windows made for my garage and told them the actual measurements assuming they would reduce them to allow clearance for fitting. They didn't...they made them to my actual measurements! D'oh! My error of course.

I had to power plane them down a little to be able to fit them. Needed to take off a few mm per side which was the same as the outer side raised profiles.
