on way to work today usuall 15 miles down motorway I noticed I didn't have the same power struggled to get up to 75mph foot to floor when usually it gets up to 85-90mph with ease.
Also noticed the other day when starting car and just sitting with car not in gear the car almost bounces like its about to stall but it ticks over ok.
Car is a 56plate 105k miles ..

Those 1.6 engines are notorious for turbo failure, I hope that isn't the problem but its possible. They suffer from poor lubrication, the sump is to small and oil change intervals to long, if the oil gets sludgy it clogs the filter in the oil supply to the turbo.

Take it to a diesel specialist, they usually know what they are doing and will at least be able to tell you what's wrong with it. The turbo appears to be relatively easy to get at as its on the front of the engine although I have never removed one.

Is the engine management lamp on......either permanently or once in a while?
Apart from turbo issues, there are also problems with the EGR system, and the exhaust particulate filter.
John :)

There's no management light on or code anywhere . If it's not in gear it revs up to red line would this rule out turbo issues ?

If it revs up with no input from you at all it could be a sign of turbo failure as the engine burns its own oil, try to get it looked at asap as its possible the engine could self destruct if it revs up and you cant shut it down.

Sadly it doesn't....the engine must be under load for any real assessment to be carried out.
However......treat it to a new air filter and fuel filter, consider running the engine with the exhaust disconnected - these are the sort of things a garage would do before calling in the artillery.
It could be turbo boost issues, or even low fuel pump pressure......the list is sadly endless these days with modern diesels.
The fact that there aren't any fault codes does mean a stab in the dark.
John :)

When I said if it's not in gear it revs up to redline I mean me doing it with putting foot on pedal not revving on its own, forgot to say few months ago when driving along a bypass instead of it driving smoothly it accelerated in bursts ,
