BBC. Is Britain Racist?

I see no issues, as long as selection is based on merit.

Fine your job has now been given to a black person, feel any happier about it.
My main point to all those who want to live in a multicultural society is why don't you go and live in the country of the people that you profess to like so much, your choice. I however have had my choice taken away by those who invited all these people to come and live here playing at social engineering when none of the consequences of this game impact upon their own lives, other than cheap nannies or cleaners.

A major factor contributing to all of the problems referred to in this thread is our reliance on career politicians whose only aim, in common with all those in power, is to stay in power. To do this they will promise, offer anything to get support rather than have informed debate.
Immigration is not a bad thing, lets face it until a short while ago the birth rate was dropping alarmingly. The problem is lots of our new 'citizens' don't want to be British, yes they want the passport but not our values,&, walking down Wine Street on a Saturday night I cannot really blame them.
There's parts of the UK now that I no longer recognise and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, in my own Town when our old rugby-club was converted into a Mosque there was a call for our town war memorial (which was opposite) to be moved as they found it offensive. I'm pleased to say it wasn't.
We cannot discuss these sort of issues without immediately being accused of either being racist or extreme & if we don't sort it out soon trouble will ensue.

Fundamentally, I don't think Britain is racist. But pc has got to the point now where you just can't say anything at all without being vilified or branded, so people just keep quiet. Try calling a phone in radio show and say what you think. You will often be beaten down and cut short, as even the presenters have to tow the pc line no matter they may tell you otherwise.
We are just continually "told" that multiculturalism enriches our society.
I, like many have no real issues with immigrants in moderation, but the point comes where there are just too many. Your values, culture and heritage become diluted. I see nothing wrong in wanting to preserve them.
That's one of the reasons for example that Hungary / Slovakia don't want any immigrants (especially from the r.o.p). They are largely Christian / Catholic and have no desire for their values, heritage or culture to be diluted. They have little time for people who move there and then decide to be offended by their ways at every opportunity.

I believe that that would make Britain singularly unique!
I think we are generally quite tolerant and accepting, personally I don't see us as a racist nation overall.
You may get the odd group or person who really are racist, but on the whole I don't think we are?

I'm of the opinion that we're all as tribal as any other country. Even the concept of "country" implies tribalism. Since thickos seem to think that tribalism(which is natural and acceptable) is synonymous with racism (which is emotive and ill-defined as a concept), then the whole human species is "racist". Britain isn't anything special in this respect.

As Andy Parsons says:

"The English are very tolerant because they live with so many people they can't f***in' stand".

To what do you refer when you write 'RWR chums'? I tried a quick Google but to no avail and fared no better on facebook where the most likely candidate seems to be a lifesavers organisation.

I wouldn't bother trying to figure out nosey's ramblings. His superior attitude is endemic of those on Planet Troll. We don't know or care what his beef is, and he certainly doesn't understand the flow of debates on here.

He's happy on the sidelines lobbing his badly aimed rotten tomatoes. Best just to humour him. (y)

I wasn't 30 years ago. However, now it's rammed down my throat, as well as the throats of every other indigenous Brit, at every opportunity and our country flooded with alien and often dangerous cultures - well I'm definitely racist now. If that's the label that the lefties and pinkos give people who object to their country being given away - who gives a toss what they think?

No one ever voted for this shoite and it's never been in anyone's manifesto.

Rant over. :D

As you know, you and I have had our differences (exacerbated by Norcon's occasional unfortunate "tone" and "turn of phrase"). Having argued the toss with you both in the past, I have no doubt that you are one of the least "racist" people I know. You abhore the behaviour and values of certain groups of those people who vociferate and act upon their stances. You occasionally generalise, as much as those who hold the opposing views. But most of all you are honest.

The "safe" way forward is to argue tribalism.
