USB Wall Sockets - Can I Do it?

Seeing that has made me more careful about what I use from now on - definitely MK or Crabtree fittings.

I think that if I wanted USB charging sockets, I'd avoid the whole concept of having ones built into BS 1363 outlets, and instead source reputable standalone USB power supplies, and wire them to USB faceplates.

Would be a bit naff if permanently plugged in. And quite possibly subject to all the same concerns about the ones glued to the back of BS1363 faceplates.

But in a one gang euro-module faceplate you could fit a USB socket (2 if anybody makes a twin ½ wide module) and a switch to control the remote USB supply.

Not to mention one other obvious problem if you look at the pictures:

Yes, we must stop members of the CC being allowed here.

Often wondered about the purpose of the CC.
Is it only for experts who don't know what to do?

Yes, I've often wondered that, too - I can but presume that it's for gas experts who can't find a better place to congregate in private than a dusty corner of a DIY forum!

Kind Regards, John

It's a place for those who want to perpetuate the lie that DIY gas work is illegal to congregate.

It's far worse than that. It's a place for prima donnas to mix with other like minded people and play out their illusions of grandeur without challenge.

They also like to exchange advice on things like electrical work which they are so far from competent to do so it beggars belief whilst slating anyone who dares do the same about the rocket science that they like to think gas work is.

A Gas Safe registered person actually recommend using the gas pipe to the boiler as an earth connection to the boiler.

Dangerous idiot.

Yes keep them and their dangerous mis-guided advice locked up in the Combustion Chamber and safely hidden away from the eyes of DIYers.
