E119 error baxi duo-tec 28 HE A

Thanks gigz - how would i rectify that? this is the only thing that has changed on the system since it was installed so i have been thinking that i have not done the radiator replacement properly....

The pressure still drops - sometimes slowly - sometimes quicker.

Turn the boiler off and fill to 1.5 bar. Bleed all the rads starting downstairs, then up. Top it back to 1.5 bar and turn the heating on. After ten minutes check the pressure again and note what it is. Go outside to copper pipe and see if its dripping.

Many thanks Gigz, i will do that today and let you know what happens...

you must feel as though you are walking a child through this!! hahaha.

thanks again

Rightio! This is the next installment!!! hehehe

I (almost) did what gigz suggested above, except i remembered it incorrectly and bled the upstairs rads first, when i realised (after doing the downstairs ones) i re-did the upstairs ones! So i topped up to 1.5bar, bled the rads and it went down only a little bit but i topped it up to 1.5bar again and switrhed the heating on. All of the rads heated up (some more than others) and the pressure immediately dropped to 1bar. During the heating on phase the pressure crept upto 1.25bar and remained there for the rest of the time that the heating was on. It is now about 10 minutes after the heating was turned off and the pressure is at...............(just went to check) back upto 1.5bar!!!

So now i am completely confused as to whether there is a leak on the system, a fault in the boiler or what!!!!

it is now almost half an hour after the previous test and the pressure has dropped to 1.25bar - i cannot see any signs of any dripping from the pipe outside or from any of the radiators :(

Any further ideas? best way to go about finding a leak?.....

When the pump is running the pressure will drop as the gauge on the suction side (thats why i say turn boiler off). If after cooling its dropping further and no signs of leaks i'm afraid its time to start removing floorboards/boxings. Or you could wait a few weeks to see if it starts showing. I'm hoping you haven't got concrete floors ?

all timber floors! i will take them up and look at where there are joints and see if there is seepage...

Thanky uo ever so much, i think you have all taken me as far as you can and now it is a case of finding the leak :(

thanks again

You could try (i've never done this but know someone who has) adding some cheap perfume/aftershave then after a few days having a snifter around the house. Just be careful you don't spill any.

Into a rediator (towel rail is easiest) if you can)

my job for tomorrow is to find this pblasted leak and try to fix it!!! today i am trying to narrow my search. i swithed the far left (original post photo) black valve to 'off' - i am assuming this is where the hot water leaves the boiler on its way to the radiators. i did this and then topped up the system and the pressure dropped again - all the way to zero. i thought that if the water cannot get out and around to the radiators the leak must be before this point. Does this make sense?

Eddy

You need to close the flow AND return (far right and far left) otherwise it will still drop the pressure by going the other way.

closed the far left black valve and the far right black valve. i guess the middle (slightly to the right) black valve is the water feed? I have left this open...
