The internal door is from 1958. I removed the first layer of modern paint with a heat gun. East peasy. Then I got to working on the older paints to try to get down to the bare wood. That took more time, heat and effort. I've only done one side of the door.
But, to my complete surprise, I have bent the door. On the side I've been using the heat gun, the surface is now concave. In the vertical the depression in the centre is about 1/2", in the horizontal about 1/4".
I do wonder if when I do the other side, it will go straight again.
Can anyone please explain what the issue is that has bent this door (apart from just saying heat) and whether the door can be made straight again. Thank you.
EDIT: It must be a moisture issue I guess. Maybe if I wet the side it will begin to straighten.
EDIT: Aaah. I've started to use the heat gun on the other side and I wet the concave side. Door begins to straighten.
