Our baxi 105E fan light is flashing, no water, no heating. Engineer replaced fan still not working, circuit board had burnt out so replaces that, still not working, changed the sensor and the venturi, still no work. The fan works but boiler not firing. He say boiler need replacing but should i get a second opinion as it going to cost me two grand for new one.

one of the best boilers around just get another engineer who is competent ,may be air pressure switch issue

Helen, when so called heating engineers start throwing parts at a boiler like your guy has done, they are not competent do carry out repair work. Your guy is throwing parts at the boiler in hope that he will get it working.

Chances are if you do proceed with new boiler, it will be cheap and nasty

Get your boiler looked at by someone who repairs boiler for a living

Post your domicile location, a regular may offer to carry out the repair

Trust you have not paid you 'engineer' for the parts that have been fitted

Hi, no we are going to get a second opinion, he is qualified but he has not been trading long. We live in mid Cornwall

Do you realise the makers as well as British Gas offer a fixed price repair inclusive of ALL parts needed for about £300 ?

All those parts could come to about £500 but in reality only one was likely to have been needed and could have been one at just £30 !

Mid Cornwall does not give me much idea of where you are if I was deciding if you were close enough to come to you.

I might think Bodmin but could be 100 miles out!

A Town or postcode would pinpoint you.

Tony, you really are getting your moneys worth out of your senior citizens free bus pass....
