Thanks for having a peek.
It is a thing I have been given to sell on ebay.

The nut on the left is a left hand thread by the way. You can identify them by the small groove on the face edges.
Definitely off a gas bottle. Would have a rubber tube on the right side connected to a flame gun.

It's a regulator for a fuel cylinder, might be propane or butane, could even be for acetylene. Milk comes in bottle you lot :-p (P.S acetylene cyinders are NOT TO BE MESSED WITH)

And bulbs are planted in the ground but lets not be so pedantic eh? ;)

Thanks Conny. Yeah, as a Scout Leader, I am familiar with LH threads. They are both LH on this thing.

Any markings? Well, there's the markings in the brass body of the thing. But they are semi-obscured by the sticker put on the thing.

Aside from the obscured markings, that green sticker reads:

BS EN ISO 2503 then AIR PRODUCTS BRITISH MADE then MODEL 40

On the orange-topped tap is marked PROPANE and 0-4 BAR

On the neck of the thing, just below the tap is 40 PSI then 60 and underneath 20, with two horizontal parallel lines separating the 60 and the 20.

Underneath the thing is a sticker saying:

ISO 9001 QUALITY ASSURANCE PASSED

Nozzle, I never mess with that wot I know nowt about. But if I know what this is and can sell it for my F-I-L then great. If not, no worries.

Burnerman, It came like this BNIB. Possibly bought to connect to a propane canister connected to a static.

Aye, didn't realise it was a quiz!
Wondering why the pressure is adjustable, but not enough to give me sleepless nights!
Have a good evening
John :)

No, you got me wrong, it isn't a quiz!!

I genuinely don't know exactly what it is (manufacturer, part number etc) and need to know to be able to sell it. But I can't find another like it on the net, probably because I have no clue what I'm looking for or where to start...

If it was a car, I could have a stab and say, right it's a Ford Focus or whatever but right now I'm clueless!

I'm pretty sure its the propane side of an oxy propane burning torch set up, and that blank in the side is for either a gauge or another take off. Any nearer?
John :)

Thanks BM, I hope so!

I have just been given the box and receipt.

The receipt is no use, it just says "PROPANE REG"

The box has a label on it Giving details of part number, gas and description.

But I'm still none the wiser and cannot find others like it on the net.

I can confirm it was wrongly purchased as a propane regulator for a static caravan.

Part No: APSRAN27(E24)
Gas: PROPANE
Description: Single stage, Plugged (no gauge)
4 Bar Max Pressure Regulator

Putting the part number in Google does not produce anything.

If I could just find its long lost brother on the internet I'd be a bit wiser about how to sell it on Ebay....!

Up to 4 bar  thats one hell of a pressure for a fuel gas......10psi is as high as I have gone with propane cutting.
Maybe a Calor shop could help?
John :)

Like burnerman says it's a regulator for propane used with oxygen for a Gas Axe cutter. Pressure gauges not used on these due to the likeleyhood of them being broken on site at the demo job/scrapyard. If you list it as a Gas Axe Regulator the people who want it will go straight to it;)

Cheers, guys. But the million dollar question....what's it worth if I put a buy it now offer?

This is the nearest thing I can find on ebay.

Not sure if it is the correct model. It has a black plastic cover at the base of the tap. Not sure if this means mine is missing or it never had one.

Also noticed the inspect/replace date on mine (under the green label- stupid place to put it, Air Products...) is 2008.....

After a lot of internet research, I rang gas arc and asked them if it was theirs, albeit relabelled for Air Products. They did not recognise the part number, but she reckons it could be a RAN 01004. There is, after further research I discover, also an RAN 01005. Both these are Propane regulators, but I don't know the difference.

Don't want to be responsible for selling a gas-related item that is out of its inspection date, even if it has never been used...
