Hello , the title says it all really.
I have a velux in a small extension in a vaulted roof off of the kitchen .
Condensation has started to form and runs down the lower end and down the surrounding ceiling . This has left a brownish water stain on the white Matt paint .
I know ventilating the room will help . This problem mainly occours when cooking despite opening Windows ect.
What I would like to know if there is some sort of lip I could add that would collect the water or another alternative .
Also how will I treat the painted ceiling . I was thinking a stain block then repainting and then covering with a clear wax or something ?
Thank you for taking the time to read this .

At the end of the day, you need to get rid of that moisture and not let any more in.....what is the possibility of installing a cooker hood, vented to the outside?
John :)

it's a possibility we have an extractor over the cooker but its not vented to the outside . It's one of the pull out ones with a filter in . Doesn't do much at all but it matches the kitchen at the moment . I was hoping for a cheaper alternative!

This ornamental hood - how far is it from the nearest external wall?

then you need to make a hole through the wall for a duct. You can get a core drill from a tool hire shop. It is quite dusty and heavy. Find the installation instructions for the hood, which will explain where to make the hole. It might be 125mm diameter and you will need a piece of plastic pipe and a cowl vent for the outside. Rigid tube and an elbow is quieter and cleaner than flexible hose.

I think the kitchen fitters were buffoons to fit a costly hood which performs solely as an ornament and serves no useful purpose.

Once you get it ducted through the wall it will become useful.

Thanks , yes I agree they were buffoons . The kitchen was fitted by the previous owners (buffoons!) Thanks for your advice
