Indesit washing machine not spinning, no motor noise

Our Indesit integrated IWME126 is only 4 years old, and the drum has stopped spinning. It powers on, select rinse, the water pours in the powder tray, then stops, then nothing from the drum. Repeats twice more. It appears not to drain either.

I tried it again on spin cycle and got three lots of a motor noise and then nothing.

The belt is ok, the filter has been cleaned.

Any advice appreciated.

Check motor brushes

Wouldn't the motor make a noise whenever the drum was meant to be spinning if it were the brushes?

No, because it won't be turning, might make a humming noise if 1 brush only is faulty but doubtful.
