Surging Water from Vent Pipe

As you have an open vented system, it probably has some sludge and sediment in it, unless it was recently powerflushed, which may be obstructing correct flow.

It may help to give it a simple chemical clean, which will only cost you about £15.

Sentinel X400 can be added and pumped round in normal operation for about 4 weeks before being drained out. On the first day, it may help to turn off all your radiators except one, and go through the house doing that to maximise flow through each radiator in turn.

I bet you will get an alarming amount of dirt out.

Already done.

Magna clean picked up a lot of gunk,

Also radiators now working better than they have in a while.
Unfortunately, X400 doesn't help in my feed pipe if that has a partial block.

Talking of possible blockage in your feed, have a look at FAQs; Boilers and C H Question 12 ( Chris R) this is a simple and easy way to flush the feed and it works!

Quick update,

Bridged the vent and feed pipes.
Problem solved.

Comes back if the pump is set to 3, but it's fine on setting 1.

Thanks for your help.
