And we both gave the same replies, so that's encouraging. £119 does indeed look to be a good price. It's certainly the lowest I have seen.

Nest seem to have some serious retail price maintenance which I thought was illegal now in the UK.
That £249 Nest price includes installation.
I have the old Nest at home but must try to get a Nest 3 but they are not giving any special price to installers ( yet ).

Ok when installling the Hive, Instead of just connecting the two wires removed from the old thermostat together to create a loop, I have taken a pic on inside the junction box and marked up on the pic.
To avoid just connecting the two wires from the thermostat what should be done in the junction box?
Is it a case of just disconnecting the two wires? If I do that then port 3 becomes redundant!!
3 wires coming into the junction box at bottom, Red and yellow (from Thermostat), Blue have no idea where its coming from.
Yellow wire from stat is connected to the white wire coming from pump.
Red wire from stat is then connected to a yellow wire going to the programmer port 3.

Just disconnect the thermostat red wire and move the white wire down into it's place so it connects up to the Programmer CH ON wire where the red used to be.
Then anchor the red in the terminal where the yellow is, which will keep both of the old thermostat wires safely out of trouble.

The wire that you have labelled 'wire goes to pump' are you sure about that? it should be, and it looks like, the white wire that goes to the motorised valve to me.
Whilst what jackthom says is correct electrically, Personally I would put the wire that comes from the programmer, into the terminal with the white wire, and then remove the 3 core cable to the thermostat altogether. The blue wire will be a neutral for the thermostat. Mechanical thermostats utilsed a small internal accelerator to improve their accuracy. This required a neutral connection for operation.

You are correct and my mistake.
The wire should be labelled "going to motorised valve".
With regards to the wiring, I think you and Jackthorm are on the same page but I thought I'd leave them in place and label it so that just in case in the future a wired stat is needed, the wiring is all present!!!

I got fed up with the inconsistency of the hive and ordered a Nest,,,,what I should have done at the beginning.
One question on the wiring, Do I need to run a wire from L to 2 and 5? or simply just bridge 2 and 5?

I have had the Hive 2 installed for 2 months and am just fed up the app not working and the amount of times I have to reboot the hub!!!
