Hi all I'm new to the site and have a question :) my husband decided to take out the arch between the two living rooms and return it to a square shape. After taking off the plaster and the mesh arches the concrete lintel has been exposed and 3 wooden inserts can been seen in it, is this compromising the lintel?? this must have been like this for over 20 years but I want to be sure it is right before re-plastering any help or advise would be really appreciated :) thanks in advance

They were put in when the lintel was cast in situ - well over 20 years;) they are for fixing to before SDS drills were invented - have a look for Rawlplug tool / jumper on google- that's how holes were made back in the day.

Compromising the lintel for 20 years.

They might compromise the lintel for the next 20 years or so too

All I can see is the underneath of a couple of breeze blocks suspended from??? Is my picture viewer up the spout?
