amal gas fire flue by mrcrow_uk, on Flickr

it has a horizontal balanced flue which goes through the cavity wall and terminates flush with the wall
the termination seems to be grouted flush with the wall then a stand out wire guard

could it be the fire is held from moving by the grouting...i really cant see any more mechanical fixings

cheers

ps....i put this here since its not boiler and gas isnt connected

Chase out around the the perimeter of the flue, the flue terminal guard will need removing first.

that worked fine...just need to block the hole now as we are fitting an electric fire
got some poly styrene and silicone sealer handy
cheers
