I've just installed a Honeywell Galaxy G2-20 along with the RF portal (no wireless sensors) and have two TCC8M key fobs. The system is fully working except I'm unable to set or unset the alarm using the key fobs.

The system is configured as follows: -

RF Portal address 5
Keypad address 0
Two users have been assigned RF fobs (learned on to the system)
50=RF Options - 1=RF Fob unset
On the RF Portal the red BUS LED indicates 'Good communication'
When I press any of the buttons on the fobs the RF Portal RX LED flashes but not the TX LED
On the fobs, pressing any button, the associated LED flashes rapidly for about 4 seconds.

Is the RF portal faulty or have I missed setting a parameter?

Have you 'learned' the fob serial number against the user account ?
You need to enter 'Modify -> Users -> "Select the user account for the fob" -> RF Fob then press * (Auto) and press the fob button to learn the serial number.

The two key fobs have been 'learned' and returned their serial numbers (0993919 and 0732958). Also both key fob users have been allocated pin numbers and set to L2.

Sorry, I missed that in your post. My brain isn't in gear tonight as I've had a migraine all weekend.

Your settings do look okay and sounds like everything is running as normal with the exception of not actioning the fob press.

Is your system without any tampers/faults. Ie. Does it set without any warnings ?

What firmware is the panel (Display -> System) ?
What firmware is the RF portal (label on portal) ?

The system does set ok, using the keypad. I'll let you know the firmware versions tomorrow (the system was bought in August this year).

Thanks for your help with this.

Above you said 51.50.1 - Did you mean 1 (Anytime) is selected ?
51.50.1 - 1=RF Fob unset (1. Anytime)

Apart from that, I cannot think of anything offhand. We'll get it working though - just takes a bit of time and patience to go through the steps.

Yes, 51.50.1=RF Fob unset, is set to 1=Unset anytime

The keypad firmware is: Galaxy 2-20 V1.56
The RF portal firmware is: 100-05121 REV.A2

On the RF portal, the links are set: -

1 closed (a1 + V2)
2 open (-)
3 closed (Ant1)
4 closed (Galaxy)
5 open (-)
6 open (-)

LK1 open
LK3 open

Okay, I have the same portal here running at V3.00 with the same jumper settings and a 1.56 panel.

I did notice something strange happening when switching the fob protocols between v2 and alpha. For some reason, the learned serialno of the fob cleared out from the panel... I repeated this, so it wasn't a fluke.

Anyway, my process was.

1. Remove fob battery.
2. Press full set and unset at the same time on the fob while inserting the fob battery.
3. Self learn the fob by activating self learn and pressing the full set button on the fob.
4. Set and unset the system using the fob.

I removed and replaced the battery in both of my key fobs, holding the unset and full set buttons (to change to Alpha mode)
Both key fob user serial numbers were cleared so I went through the learn process which restored the serial numbers.

There was an alert, 'RF Jam Recv. 5'.

Pressing the full set buttons on either key fob had no effect on the system state.

Is my RF portal (C079-2) firmware, 100-05121REV.A2, the latest version?

That's the portal version, not the firmware version. The G2 series doesn't show versions in diagnostics, so you're stuck with the label on the PCB. It will be something like 1.08, 1.10, 3.00.

On the portal there are the following labels: -

F135 00 300
VI DataCode 1504
ICT P12B073
FCT 1401033

So I guess, from the F135 label, the firmware is version 3.

Yes, V3.00. It's not the latest, but the fix after V3.00 is not for fob activation. Also, I have the exact same system and portal versions here that I have tested and the combination works. It does concern me that you received the RF jam when changing fob settings, as it takes 30 seconds to trigger that condition normally.

I wasn't aware that the switch over of fob modes could impact programming - that's not a good thing. The documentation on that is non existent.

I'm assuming that you don't have any IP module or programming lead that would allow you to take a snapshot of your panels settings for me to replicate ?

No I don't have any means of dumping the panel settings. I did look for information regarding connecting the programming port, on the alarm panel, to a PC's serial port, but no luck. When the key fobs operate correctly, what indication is there on the fob and on the rf portal's RX and TX indicators? Thanks.

Finally got the keyfobs working today. I always suspected that the RF portal was faulty so, I bought a replacement, and once fitted the keyfobs worked! I didn't have to make any changes to the system setup. Many thanks for your assistance. I had requested support and later a replacement card from the distributor but never received any response, So, I won't be using them again.
