I've managed to aquire my self a safe from a now closed down post office. I'm looking for suggestions as to the best way to connect it to my alarm system.

My alarm is a Texecom premier elite. I have plenty of spare zones and would like the safe to be on its own area as it's in a protected area which it is not always armed.

I want to setup the safe so it will generate a confirmed alarm if anyone attempts to gain access with or without the keys.

I also managed to salvage the device pictured below which has a flap to cover the keyhole and a vibration detector from one of the other safes, but I don't think this will be enough on its own to guarantee a confirmed alarm if it's attacked.

All suggestions are welcome as to how you would secure it.

Look at elmdene safe limpet e20 it has a shock , heat , and magnetic sensor in one unit , depending on safe type you fit the mounting plate over the keyhole

No, but with the detector in the corner covering the safe it will.

Surely there would be that detector, never had to deal with Limpet only, always a detector as well

The one your going to fit ! Lol
Yes you can get confirmation from the limpet as long as they activate the shock and the magnetic sensor

You should be able to place the sliding lever on 1 zone and the seismic on another. I'm assuming your system isn't signalling to an approved ARC on police response. What's the reasoning for trying to create a confirmed alarm??

Detector in the corner, quite the norm where a safe is concerned, set the alarm off before gaining access to the safe

A Jack Russel will do the job, anything comes near it and it starts an annoying yap yap... :)

I'm still not sure what sort of detector I'm supposed to be fitting, or which corner it should go in.

Are you referring to the salvaged detector I've already got? Does it have two zones built in? I don't know much about it, but I'm assuming it's a good device for the job if the post office spec them for their safes.

My system is set up for confirmed alarm so I don't annoy the neighbours with every false alarm, and it allows me to decide if the alarm is generated by a faulty zone / detector or if there's really an issue that needs immediate attention.
