Don't laugh but......I got an 18v cordless SDS from Lidl and it's bloody good. Have seen they have some more coming out soon, an 18v drill, driver and jigsaw, all for about 40 quid each, 3 year warranty....

Anyone got any idea where they come from, seem like a bargain to me and have read various reports about Makita going downhill and they are more that twice the price.

Like I said, don't shoot me down in flames....

Thanks, I meant who makes Parkside? They have an offer starting on the 25th Feb for a load more of the cordless tools, was thinking of getting these instead of shelling out on Hitachi or Dewalt? 3 year warranty and they all have inter changeable batteries.....I'm tempted!

Thanks for that Dave, I'm even more tempted now I know I can get spares/customer service from somewhere. They seem to have quite a range too!

I read somewhere that bosch may be involved with them somewhere, dont worry what anyone else thinks as long as your happy with them.

Parkside is a registered trade mark of Lidl made by Einhell.

I went in there the other day. Talking to the girl on the checkout, and she said she was waiting for the next cordless drill offer to be on as she wanted one. She said they were made by Bosch as well.
I thought they were made by Einhell as chappers says, but there could be Bosch parts used or anything. Who knows.
Whatever, I quite like the Parkside kit I've got. It seems to be good value for money.

My main concern is brand snobbery to be honest, just wondering if any other "professionals use them!

I'm a bit guilty of brand snobbery as well but I do have a Parkside cordless detail sander that I've been pleased with. I'm not sure I'd take the risk for anything critical but as a cheap extra drill to reduce bit changing or for high theft risk areas it might be fine.

Yeah I agree, most of my stuff is top of the range stuff, but I've got a few cheapies in my kit for stuff I don't use that often, couple of sanders, biscuit jointer, dremel type thing, back ups for labourers to use. I think over time for professional use the difference in price will tell.

I got the Parkside cordless Dremel and its a total load of rubbish. The spindle bearings went after about the 7th time I had only used it on light hobby work meaning the collet and everything was wonky and totally useless. My neighbour got one too and his bearings went on it after a few goes and the motor burnt out. Lidls refused to replace the tool or refund me saying it was a discontinued item and natural wear and tear having has it only a few months :(
But at £16.99 I suppose you get what you pay for, rubbish fit for the bin.
