Replacing a 4 way amp with 5 way

Hello all,

We have 4 TV's connected via 4 Way Masthead AMP V20-1420, there is a feed in from the aerial and 4 out connectors. This works fine but I wanted to add another TV cable. The TV's wont always be on at same time in case this affects the signal.
We also have a VisionV230-2102G power unit that seems to help this unit to work. It was installed by a TV aerial engineer.

I wanted to just replace the 4 way with a 5 way if possible. Is this an easy job? Are there any recommended units, I will run the coax in the roof myself for the extra TV.

It's fairly straight forward. Either an Antiference UXFR5-20LTE (5-way and with LTE filter) or an Antiference MHK6 (6-way, no LTE filter) would work. There are other brands available. Both the Antiference models need relatively little power (>50mA) and they have a variable gain adjustment which means you could better match the amplification strength to the needs of your aerial system: That might actually improve signal Quality which is far more important than signal Strength.

There are other makes and models available.

Alternatively, save your pennies and add a passive splitter to one output. Run the two splitter outputs to the two NEAREST rooms, requiring the shortest cables. This method will minimise signal loss problems. (I did this on my own aerial system.) The splitter should be as far from the amplifier as practicable.

Hi I think I will try the passive spliter first as its unlikely all TV's will be on at the same time.

Ok, I guessed it may have made a difference but I will use the splitter anyway as its cheap and easy and I will see the outcome.

Don't put power through the splitter. Connect the PSU to any of the other amplifier outputs.
