I've noticed a lot of discussion on the matter of which brands are better than others but the common opinion is to buy oem form the car dealership.

So which one of the brake manufacturers is supplying all of the car factories may I ask ?

I've been fitting mainly Mintex brand to the family's cars for 15 years and never had any bother with them albeit generally, they're deemed budget stuff.

Bosch, Ferodo and EBC I guess.....but stick with what you are happy with. Mintex, Jurid, Pagid, Brembo, Apec are all quality stuff.
The chances are, more and more is coming from the Orient anyway
ADL Blueprint are my manufacturers of choice at the moment.
John :)

I saw a thread about this somewhere a while back. Several people said that various after market makes were absolutely identical to OEM ones. Numbers and markings, everything the same.
Makes you wonder if there isn't one vast factory "somewhere in the Far East" where they all come from!

Indeed. It reminds me of a tale I was once told at a motor factor's counter man. He's had a visit from a supplier's sales rep and the rep told him he'd visited a factory out in the far east and had seen brake discs being machined then packed into various branded boxes on different pallets.

I'll stick with Mintex.

There's all sorts of things like it though. Economy of scale I suppose. I believe that LG make the majority of LCD screens used for instance.
I tend to stick with recognised makes of spares myself, although that's not always an absolute guarantee, as "good" makes have been bought up and used as a trading name by others. . .

I'd forgotten that thread here. There were several people saying the same sort of thing on the thread I saw. Somewhere else IIRC.
