Hi guys
Fitted this myself the other day with 2 x PIR and 2 x Door contacts - all working well. Then powered down system and fitted a Vodafone payg SIM card . I can dial in and both Arm and Disarm the system. But it will not allow me to remote command via SMS nothing happens even after setting up as per engineers manual (SMS k-word and 44 etc). Also to note that if an alarm is triggered then my mobile does receive an alarm SMS so that's ok.
Any ideas? Could it be Vodafone or shall I try another provider?

Strangely the door chime on disarm status for both doors has stopped working since I changed a few parameters as this was fine the day before? Seems like possible bug on this one? Before when I open and close doors the chime would work next day nothing I even tried to delete and add the zone again etc.

All help appreciated
Cheers
A

sounds like the sim card is working but not accepting remote commands.

I cant see why everything else would work and the sms commands don't.
I would check the commands are being sent correctly(formatted) and the panel is setup to receive commands. Also check that your model and country variant is capable of receiving sms commands.

I am not familiar with this panel but that's where I would start looking.

I'm going to try a different sim could be the commands - I'm using an iPhone 6 but can't see how that would send an sms any different to a conventional phone (do we even use these nowadays lol) -I've checked the menu whereby remote command is enabled as I can dial in and it works ok. Failing that I will contact Yale but I'm sure someone on this forum must have set this alarm up who can give some steer?

you dial in via ip?

I know several panels that will send texts out, allow dial in but wont allow remote commands if the panel is using GPRS.

usually commands require password + command to do anything and to be sent to the correct number.

I dial in via my personal mobile and the control panel answers then let's me choose options to arm/disarm etc Also if an alarm is triggered the the control panel sends me a notification via sms so that's also working.
I just can't send an SMS with a keyword and my pincode to arm or disarm via SMS. This is all part of the Yale smartalarm functionality and should be enabled by default. Another person on this forum is having the exact same issue. I will try and speak with someone at MAP or Yale - could be an option which is not obvious (or not disclosed) as I have reviewed both the engineer and user manual.

I am still waiting for an update from Yale, their customer service team is chasing the product manager. Has anyone set-up SMS remote commands on this panel?
This is the format "k-word_PIN_11_00, for example the SMS im sending is "akz_1234_11_00" (kword setup as "akz" and 1234 is a PIN, 11 is full arm and 00 is to receive a confirmation SMS back to my phone.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi,
New to forum! After being burgled I too am looking at the Yale SmartHOME alarm with GSM module.
akz786-after reading a few posts I think your problem lies with the fact that you have delayed entry/exit enabled. If enabled it requires the front or rear door contact to be opened and closed to confirm exit from the property before setting alarm. If it doesn't detect this it will assume you are still in the house and not set the alarm. Hence the possible reason it won't set via sms is it waits for the delay (15 secs or so), if it don't detect contacts open and close assumes you ain't left so won't arm!
This is an assumption, so please check this and let me know , if this is the case I'll go ahead and buy mine hahaha!
If delayed arming is deactivated it will mean alarm has to be set once you leave property either via key fob or sms.
Let me know if this has resolved your issue.

akz786 as the chime worked before you changed a few parameters I would suggest that you turned off this facility, turn it on again.

@Europlex - it was already turned on. I did a power down cycle on the panel and that did the trick, so that is working now.
@Sata123 - thats a good suggestion, however this does not make any difference at all and the fact remains that I can dial to to the panel and arm/disarm irrespective of entry/exit/final door settings.
My thoughts are around the SMS kword and string makeup, if this is wrong the the GSM module cannot convert it correctly (assuming it doing some hex conversions that the hardware can understand) and so nothing happens, at least in my case.
I've emailed Yale UK - just hope I get a response soon, as its a great alarm. Another member on this forum is having the exact same issue.

@akz786 - Sata123 here, now named Sata1234 as forgot password and couldn't reset it!!
I have had a look at the online manual for the alarm and think the issue could be with how you are composing the text/sms message.
It states that an underscore( _ ) refers to a 'space', therefore your example sms should be written as "akz 1234 11 00" and NOT "akz_1234_11_00".

Give it a try and let us know if resolved!

Hi Sata1234

I have tried that also and it did not work, I am currently waiting on a product expert over at Yale to get back to me, its taking a long time to be honest and im getting a bit disappointed by this so called flagship Yale grade 2 alarm. - appreciate its for professional install only, but as you dig in a few things have been missed off here and there (or not disclosed, anyone remember the post on how to wall mount?, that`s not even in the installation manual).
lets wait and see, else I may just contact MAP and return this and go for another brand.

Hi Sata1234

..............................................appreciate its for professional install only.................................
I know of no professional installer who would install this. They have reputations to keep.

Are you by any chance getting this confused with the Yale Smartphone alarm? The one being discussed here is Yale Smarthome, Grade 2 designed for professional install only, however MAP sell it so competent people can only self install it.

I happen to be talking about ALL Yale alarms. The Yale dummy boxes have been around so long now they are recognised as Dummy boxes or a DiY that does not get used because it has not been installed correctly etc etc
